One of my traits that I love the most is my creativity. Although I love all the arts, I am especially fond of music. I have been attached to music for all my life and I not only play it but write it as well. The below video is of me and my friend Molly covering "Little Talks" by Of Monsters and Men.

One other trait that I have is that I am open-minded. Although I do have strong stances in some things, I am very open to new ways of thinking. For example, I like talking to all my friends about their different political views and stances. I also like learning about many different religions because it is so interesting to me and I enjoy being open to new thoughts of others. This can relate to the big 5 trait of openness: seeking new experience and intellectual pursuits.

Another personality trait that I encompass is that I am very dedicated. I try my best everything in everything I do and when I start a friendship I am dedicated to keeping it thriving. I am dedicated in doing projects. Particularly, I am a dedicated person to finishing things once they are started. A specific example is when I want to get a good picture with my friends. I will be dedicated to get a good picture no matter how many tries it takes. Below is an example of pictures my sister and I were taking until we got a good one.

Another trait of mine is that I am independent. I like to work on things by myself and try not to depend on other people as much. For example, when given the decision to stay home and work on an art project by myself or go out with a large group of people, I would rather work on it by myself. This can connect to the big 5 trait of extroversion: where low scores are people who like to be alone.

From big things like planning events at least a week advance to having one binder for all my classes and writing everything in my planner, I have everything very organized.
Id, Ego, and Superego

An example of Id, Ego, and Superego is when my sister and I drive to Portillo's. When we go to Portillo's we go through the drive-thru and there is always a painfully long line. Since we LOVE Portillo's we want our order to be placed and received as soon as possible. My Id, Ego, and Superego spikes up during this time. My Id is telling me to rear-end the car in front of me in order to make them move ahead so we can put our order in. My Superego is telling me to patiently wait and maybe even pay for the person behind me to be a good person. But, my ego, in the end, ends up waiting (while complaining impatiently), NOT rear ending the car in front of me.

Rationalization

Another defense mechanism that I am guilty of is rationalization. For example, on my test, I got a 81%. Instead of admitting that I really could've studied harder to get the A (which I now know), I blamed it on the teacher, saying that 'they didn't teach us any of this!!' Another example of rationalization is in the Pink song "Just Give Me a Reason." In the song, she is singing about how if the guy would 'just give her a reason' then they could be fixed. She is rationalizing the fact that he is cheating by saying that 'they're not broken just bent' and that they can 'love again' if he would just give her a reason.

According to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, something that I need on my way to self-actualization is love and belonging. I am in a club called student council, which gives me an immense sense of belonging. I love all the people in the club and we are such a close-knit group of people. We have fun at every event and it makes me very happy to be a part of it. The picture below is from when we did window painting in downtown St. Charles for homecoming.

Something I need to fulfill my self-actualization potential is safety. Fortunately, I get the luxury of living in a wonderful neighborhood with nice and safe schools. Additionally, I feel safe not only at school and in my neighborhood, but with my friends and family (which is the next step in the hierarchy of needs.)

But, unfortunately, my real self is someone with flawed relationships (because no relationship/friendship is perfect), and covering songs with my friends or sitting by the piano.

Highest and Lowest Big 5 Scores

My highest score out of the Big 5 Personality traits was in agreeableness. A high score in agreeableness is for people who are polite and like people. My lowest score was for extroversion. Low scores mean they like working on their projects alone and are not as social. Although it seems like these traits contradict, they don't very much. Even though I am a quite and introverted people, this doesn't mean I don't like people; in fact, I try to be very polite and nice to everyone that I talk to.

A defense mechanism that I find myself using sometimes is displacement. This will usually stem from a bad grade. If I got a bad nights sleep last night or had a bad night and wasn't able to study, I most likely get bad grades on tests. Then, when my friends or parents ask about it, I will tend to be snappy at them, taking out my anger and disappointment for the bad grade on them instead of myself and trying to learn from the mistake and study for next time.
