"There would be no one to live for her during those coming years; she would live for herself. There would be no powerful will bending hers in that blind persistence with which men and woman believe they have a right to impose a private will upon a fellow-creature." This quote was very powerful and stuck out to me. She was depressed when she heard of her husbands death but then realized how much freedom she had. She then became happy because she realized how great her life would be from then on.

This is a story about a mother who is telling her daughter about all the responsibilities she will have when she get older. She says "on Sundays try to walk like a lady and not like the slut you are so bent on becoming." ou can infer by this quote that the girl is getting into some trouble so the mother is telling her that if she doesn't clean up her act then she will struggle as an adult.

This play is a murder investigation. They are all trying to find out what happened to Mr. Wright. Mr. Hale, the sheriff, the sheriff's wife, and Mrs. Hale went to the Wright's house to investigate. While trying to find different clues the two women found an empty birdcage. Little did they know that this clue would lead to finding a dead canary which could be the cause of death for Mr. Wright. This canary is a major symbol in this play. It represented happiness in Mrs. Wrights life and when Mr. Wright wrung its neck, he killed the one thing in her life that brought her true happiness.

The Yellow Wallpaper

The Yellow Wallpaper is a story about a new mother who is struggling with "temporary nervous depression." Her husband and her move into a new house for the summer as sort of a summer vacation. At this house she feels as if she is very trapped and beings to feel as if there is a girl in the wallpaper who also feels this way. I'm not sure why, but this story kind of reminds me of the song "The Monster" by Eminem and Rihanna. In this song one of the lines says "I'm friends with the monster that's under my bed. Get along with the voices inside of my head. You're trying to save me, stop holding your breath. And you think I'm crazy, yeah, you think I'm crazy, well thats nothing new. This line of this song makes me think of how the woman feels. I think she knows that something is wrong with her, and nothing is going to help her. The "monster" could also refer to the woman in the wallpaper, this song says that she's friends with it, and in the story she is definitely connected to this woman.

They both are looking forward to Torvald's new job because of the extra money it will bring in. But towards the end of this play the new year marks something different then intended. It marks a new and different period in their personalities and their lives.

Negro is a poem about an African American who's describing what its like to be a slave. One line that stood out to me was "I've been a victim: The Belgians cut off my hands in the Congo. They lynch me still in Mississippi." This just shows that life was very hard as a slave, and they were treated terribly.

Throughout this poem the author repeats the line "My soul has grown deep like the rivers." This quote to me means that even with all the segregation in the world his roots are still deep.

The main theme in this story is segregation. This story was written in a time where segregation was at an all time high. This picture shows two different water fountains, one for colored and one for whites. The one for colored is very small and run down, the one for whites is big and nice. This just shows how segregated things were, and how badly the African Americans were treated back then.

In this story, Miss Moore is trying to teach the kids that life isn't always fair. She takes them into a very expensive toy store and shows them all the different toys and how if they grow up to live like they are now, they would never be able to afford those toys. To me I think she's trying to show them that by furthering their education, they can make more money and be able to afford the things they want when they get older.
