The Native American population decimated because the Spanish brought various diseases, such as influenza and smallpox. Researchers estimated that the native population in America declined by nearly 50% due to the disease alone. There was also a decline in the food supply.

Spanish is the most widely spoken language in Latin America. only a few countries don't speak Spanish. Brazilians speak Portuguese but it differs from the Portuguese from Portugal. English is also a popular language especially in popular tourist destinations and cities with young people.
