Getting students to learn shouldn't be equivalent to pulling teeth. An affinity for care, attentiveness, respect, patience, and relevance are pivotal to cultivating a learning environment.

Apart from that, providing students with the tools to incite their desire to achieve is integral to them allowing themselves the opportunity to take ownership of their overall education and educational needs. This can be accomplished through sites such as:

Google Sites

Advanced Culinary Portfolio

Mechantronics Portfolio

bie.org

Educurious

Even though I knew the importance of my education, while growing up I hated feeling stuck in the classroom always doing the same thing everyday. Unlike myself, other students took this apathy, boredom, and disinterest and turned it into inappropriate behavior and distraction.

Advocating for breaks, the opportunity to move around and to be creative and innovative is crucial to providing students with the release and rest they need in order to remain focused on what's important.

Allowing students to move with sites like GoNoodle (linked below), or to obtain rewards as with sites like ClassDojo are just some of the ideas for managing behavior.

Monitoring where students sit, as with sites like Class Charts, can also be a useful tool as well.
