One thing I learned about the Constitutional Convention was that the delegates worked and discussed in extremely hot and stuffy conditions to improve our government. It took three months to change the poorly-made Articles of Confederation (which were too weak) into the Constitution.

Slave compromise.
The Constitutional Convention had to deal with the southern states wanting slavery and the nor
thern states wanting to abolish it. They argued for many days but eventually came to a compromise. Congress would have the power to ban the slave trade but not until 1808. Then the southern states wanted their slaves to be counted as population so they could have more representatives in the House of Representatives. The Northern states did not like this idea because they had less of a slave population and therefore fewer representatives. The Continental Congress compromised by saying that each slave was ⅗ of a person.
