Creating new residential areas for people living within the country causes more vegetation to be removed.  

Research: 
Recent studies show that each year, Canadian urban forests remove over 660 kilotonns of carbon from the atmosphere. Therefore we are not reducing the climate change effect on us because of trees and green spaces being removed. Electric powered cars which use more efficient energy and have less resistance so that most of the energy is used and not wasted.
