Flora and Ulysses will encounter a super villain and both fight side by side. William Spiver Tootie Tickham's great great nephew will help them fight evil too.

Chapter 21
Poetry
Tootie fainted due to the fact that Ulysses writes poetry. William Spiver doubts Ulysses poetic talents. He tells Flora that the world is a random place. Flora want William Spiver to take off his glasses. He won't. She thinks he is Ulysses arch-nemesis because every super hero has one. She's about to take off his glasses to find out who he truly is when her mother calls her. Her father is here to take her for the day. She tells William Spiver that the universe is a random place.

Chapter 22
Giant Ear
Flora thought that her father was the loneliest man in the universe. Phyllis and George shout at one another. Flora becomes rebellious against her mother. She is not going to give up Ulysses. The Criminal Element tells her to become a Giant Ear and listen very carefully. She is astonished to what she hears.

Chapter 23
Enter the Villain
Flora's mother, Phyllis, orders George, Flora's father, to put the squirrel out of his misery because he is diseased. She wants George to put him in a sac, hit him over the head with a shovel, dig a hole with the shovel, and bury him. "Flora misunderstood that she had made a mistake thinking William Spiver was anybody important"(pg.75). Phyllis Buckman was the arch-nemesis.

Chapter 24
Stalked, Threatened, Poisoned ETC.
" He should have been shocked but he wasn't, not really" (pg.76). Many dangerous actions had occurred to Ulysses such as he was shot with a BB gun, slingshots, his tail was run over by pickup truck, he was poisoned, etc. He's really not surprised by this announcement. He's thinking of poetry because Tootie told him he had written poetry. Flora told him that the malfeasance will be stopped.

Chapter 25
Seal Blubber
"Nothing was as it seemed" because Flora's mother gave her a shoe box with a comfy blanket to put Ulysses in for the car ride. As they were pulling out of the driveway. Tootie yells to stop the car. Flora was in a hurry, so she tells her father to keep going. She thinks "There is a murder to stop, a superhero to mentor, villains to vanquish, darkness to endicate"(pg.79). The father stops the car and is introduced to Tootie and William Spiver. Spiver apologizes to Flora for not taking off his glasses, but then tells her " They've been glued to my head by evil forces beyond my control" (pg.81).
He feels the whole world will unravel if he takes them off. Flora whispers t W.S. that Ulysses's arch-nemesis is her mother. Tootie tells Ulysses she is moved by poetry, and he feels very proud. Tootie reads Rilke and Ulysses' eyes shine. "Flare up like fame" exclaims George who says they must be on their way. W.S. is worried that they won't return and Flora tells him that she isn't going to the South Pole. Then she thinks about Terrible Things that can happen to you, and how people can survive on eating seal blubber. They finally leave as W.S waves in the wrong direction.

Chapter 26
Spies Don't Cry
Flora thinks hr father would make an excellent spy because he side steps questions or responds with questions of his own. He started to cry when Phyllis talks about getting a divorce, and Flora thinks that spies don't cry, but still, Flora interrogates her father about buying something, when he decides they should go to lunch.
