As the teacher I think I would see a classroom full of screaming children who run around and  do not  apply their active listening skills to me as the teacher.

What would a teacher of a disconnected  classroom look like?
*  He/she is not in the moment and has a reluctance to be there;
*  Is neglectful of children;
*  Exhibits teaching as a chore and is annoyed;
*  Has unclear and low expectations;
*  Presents uninteresting and dull materials:
*  Shows very little  interest in the child(ren);
* Does not verbally interact with child(ren); and
*Uses intimidating body language and harsh language.
Result... Bored, uninterested children who more than likely have no respect for educator and will present with challenging behaviors.

Teachers that are disconnected from the children tend to look at the classroom as a list of never ending tasks. The notice the negativity/bad behavior in the room and allow that to change the mood of the classroom.
A disconnected classroom will have a less attentive teacher.  You may see the teacher sitting at the table while the children are doing their own thing. There will be more frustration when a child has their little moment, where that frustration will linger throughout the day. The teacher could be wrapped up in personal problems causing a negative and disconnected attitude.

when paperwork takes over your life and you forget about the child quilty of this one I had to step back and remember why I was doing this. I think there is alot of us the get caught up and then that teachable moment comes and we are so caught up that we forget.
