When he was dying, he’s still confused why he was the only one that had asked to be let in.

The doorkeeper told him that actually the door was only for his entry, which meant that it was his right to enter the law.

It’s himself that prevented his entry.

The text probably wants to tell us that when it’s necessary we should try to break the rules or challenge the authority. The law in the text maybe a metaphor of authority. The man is from countryside who may feel self-contemptuous, and do not have the courage to enter the law without the doorkeeper’s permission. However, if the man is urged to do it, it’s reasonable for him to try entering the law though he is forbidden.

A man from country stands for a timid, weak and mannered person who tries to gain the permission from others(may be the authority). “Seeking the law” hints to seeking the way to success. The last sentence is ridiculous, implies the doorkeeper maybe the obstacle of his heart. For example, he wants to do something to gain success, but he didn’t have the bravery to break the law, so he always ask for permission.

It’s about a man from the countryside fails to enter the Law because of the obstacles set by the doorkeeper.

It inspires us to think outside the box,which means don not to be restricted by rules and limitations,just do it! As for the man, he can just enter the law without asking the doorkeeper the second time. Like he can just enter after thirty minutes.

From our group’s point of view, this story enlightens us on that every individual is entitled to the right of knowing, mastering, using and seeking the patronage of Law. However, it takes volition, courage and decisiveness for one to take the step forward to pursue his/ her right to Law since there are stronger and stronger doorkeepers in one door after another(i.e. obstacles that are increasingly intimidating in rounds and rounds of difficulties). Provided that one keeps hesitating and getting stuck in a rut, observing rules blindly, it can be impossible for the individual to make the step forward and win over whatever he/she deserves.

This text tells a story about a man who spent all his life trying to enter the room of Law. We think that the Law represents a common sense of rules about life and experience. He who wanted to enter the Law was trying to have his present life status elevated, and when he heard that there will be so difficulties ahead, he chose to sat down and wait. That’s a far too negative perspective of life we thought, because he even didn’t try to break in and challenge the door keeper.

The man represents the ordinary seeker. He has a yearning for "the law", but gets trapped in a long wait due to fear and blind obedience to authority(doorkeeper), and eventually misses the essence of his pursuit in his obsession.
