The story goes that Hang Tuah's rivals accused him of adultery with the Sultan's court ladies. The Sultan was so angry he sent Hang Tuah to be executed without any chance for him to redeem himself. However, the Bendahara (the executioner) decided to hide Hang Tuah instead.
Hang Jebat, Hang Tuah's best friend, was angered by Hang Tuah's alleged execution that he betrayed the Sultan and wreak havoc in the palace. The Sultan sent thousands of men to execute Hang Jebat. Because of Hang Tuah's royalty towards the Sultan, he 'came back from the dead' and fought with Hang Jebat for a week straight, with Hang Jebat bleeding to death in Hang Tuah's home and Hang Tuah being crowned the hero of the story.
