Although somewhat challenging to utilize this technology with my kindergarten students, it is still possible.

I am currently in talks with staff at an elementary school that I taught at in Martinique, France. In these talks were are seeking ways to have my current students interact with my old students. Using digital storytelling may be the best medium to accomplish this.

As noted early, digital story telling allows students to reach out to the Other. From my experience my old students were fascinated with the idea of life in the United States. By giving students the agency to discuss their lives they will be extra motivated to express themselves in the target language.

The article discusses how parents are helpful in assisting students with the development of their digital stories. This will likely need to be the case with such young students.

I am of the impression that the article did not give ample attention to the digital divide that exists for our students.

With such a reliance on technology, as well as the support of parents, there may be some students who are not able to experience all the benefits of digitial storytelling.

This is not to say that digital storytelling as a whole should be scrapted. However, it is necessary that we acknowledge the reality of the digital divide and actively seek to support our students who are systematically underserved in this area.
