If Freud had no knowledge of the subject's personal information (gender, race, class, etc), would the results of his case studies have been different? For example, would he have diagnosed a patient with a different condition/illness if their gender were different but the facts/history were the same? Or if they had a different racial background, different culture, etc?

If I could ask Freud a question, it would be if he ever felt as if his interpretations of his patients were conflicting/misinterpreted. We see it in the Dora case which he considered a "failure" because she called off the treatment, yet it also revealed a tension between the patient's own conscious understanding & experiences and his analysis and theory.

If Freud's method relies so heavily on interpreting what patients don’t say or don’t remember how could he have been so sure he wasn't just projecting his own unconscious onto theirs?

Many people try and analyze dreams and what they could mean. An example could be your have a dream of running away from something and this could be interpreted as you dreading a major change or trying to avoid responsibility. Does the unconscious mind have a major role in developing these dreams and could dream analysis better help us understand things such as the id, superego, and in general the unconscious mind as a whole?

What would Freud say in response to his legacy / authority being used to reinforce certain norms / diagnoses / pathologies that are largely contingent upon social conditions? While Lacan D&G Fromm etc critique this method of analysis, the essentialism of diagnoses seems to be uber-prevalent in present day psychology / psychiatry. Ex. a child's ADHD response to the law of preschool is attributed to their "ADHD essence" instead of flaws in the school system.
