I wonder how my teaching will affect young minds.

I hear that many people don't want to be teachers

I see a need for those who don't sit on the bleachers.

I want a paid job at a great school district I find

I am hard-working, committed, and kind

I pretend that I'm flying when I ride my horse

I feel a haunting sense that my finances are off course

I touch money briefly in between paychecks and bills

I worry it won't cover the amount at the till

I cry at the thought of compounding debt.

Yet still feed some paycheck to the horse, yup, you bet!

I am hard-working, committed, and kind

I understand that that some students won't pay me any mind

I dream of retirement, yet only started my career

I hope that my choice won't kick me in the rear!

I try to see hope where the light of love shines
