@Lih Wei Chia shared about RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and NFC (Near-Field Communications) technology and how they are used in things from contactless payments to ERP (Electronic Road Pricing), and even finding lost library books! He also shared how this technology is competing with QR (Quick Response) codes based systems commonly used with e-payment.

@Amelia shared tips on how to make professional digital (LinkedIn) profiles. Specifically, 1, having a profile photo suitable for the job you are looking for, 2, using keywords in your headlines to help recruiters find you easier, 3, work on 2 to 3 paragraphs about yourself in your summary, and 4, describing your work experiences more specifically instead of being vague.

She also explained how including a little personal information helps recruiters resonate with you more, but cautions against turning your LinkedIn profile into a social media profile. There was also a discussion about methods to maintain networks, through messaging and meetings, or through content creation and/or curation.

@Melvin shared with us his recipe for making tempura. Turns out temperature is key, and a good way is to drop a drop of batter into the frying oil to determine if the oil is hot enough. If it is sufficiently hot, the batter should cook almost instantly and float to the surface.

The oil used should be composed of saturated or mono-saturated fats, as oils containing unsaturated fats actually decompose at frying temperatures and is worse for your health.

The batter should have as little gluten as possible, and this can be achieved by mixing with cold water, vodka, or beer (!), not over mixing, and using the batter immediately.

@David Gan shared about how to improve your life "with your brain" by introspection and action. During introspection, you should identify patterns in your behaviour that leads to the aspect that you're trying to improve upon. After that, seek ways to avoid or correct said behaviour by making them the changes required actionable. 

He also mentioned the idea of the locus of control, which is an imaginary locus, or boundary, of things which we are able to take control of, and how we can train ourselves to bring more objects into the locus, to aid in putting action to the changes we require.

@Mei shared with us the two books that changed her life: Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery.

Quoting from the book, "Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how'", she details how Viktor's book inspired her to seek fulfilment of the soul. She shared that most people take care of their mind and body, but neglect the soul. And without the heart and meaning to life, it is very difficult to be happy. In Viktor's book, he wrote that meaning to life can be found in three ways: in creation or creativity, in passive appreciation, and, in suffering. 

Similarly, what she learnt from reading The Little Prince is that the intangible things will at some point be the most important: justice, friendship and love.

Mei also shared with us her experiences in volunteering, her belief that nobody is useless and the existence and respect for the intrinsic dignity in every being.

Louis ran a demo on making better presentations, by focusing on engaging the audience, instead of focusing too much on content using Powerpoint Karaoke.

Reiann shared about how to know whether your financial advisor is good or not, whether or not they have your best interest at heart.
