He shoots with wide angle lenses and eep focus. This style is dreamlike and makes his movies very spiritual. What also helps this is a lot of narration by the characters. something i think is interesting about his work are reactions to it. many people think his work is fantastical but a lot of people disparage his work as meaningless and simply focused on visuals but I don't think this is true as his stories often rich with meaning and complexity. his films are true experiences over a product. The movie is very ambiguous and has a lot of scenes that are physical representations of emotions or plot points. The movie opens with an extended sequence of the stars and the universe. 
Another one of his films that I like is A Hidden Life. It tells the story of a man resisting nazi advancement into his country. The aesthetics of his films are very reflective and natural. They feel more like a theatre play than a movie.
Another one of his films is Song to Song. The film is less popular than his others because its scale is not as grand and the style of his films struggle to compensate for that lack of scale.
