But I haven't done the tasks with them yet. I just have my fingers crossed. There weren't enough text books that I wanted to teach. So the students are studying different novels this year. They will be self teaching I guess and recording their work in different (exciting and memorable ways). The kids reading Paper Towns are going to build a paper town that contains all their research and information. The ones doing Night will record their research as if they are the author about to start writing his book and collecting research about Auschwitz and German history, photos, passages (quotes) etc. 1984 - students will write Winston's diary. Lord of the Flies - write a diary (psychologist's orders) to explain what happened including quotes, diagrams, drawings, character profiles, build a model of the island etc. Animal Farm... fingers crossed no one chooses Animal Farm. If they do they'll have to think of the task and outcomes for themselves. The plan is to give them the suggestion and the desired outcomes and purpose.
