The government was broken up into three parts. The first was ekklesia, which created laws and dictated foreign, then there was The Boule, which was a council of representatives from athenian tribes, and lastly there was The Dikasteria, which was the popular courts citizens dictated in. This was an effective form of government, although only men over the age of 18 were allowed to vote. The executive branch, which is the president and people, the legislative, which is the Senate and the House of Representatives, and the Judicial which is the Supreme court and lower courts. Although the government is not the exact same, they were both largely controlled by the people. This shows us how important the ancient greeks were to us, without their ideas surrounding government, we may have become socialist or a dictatorship(both suck, look at venezuela and north korea).
