These papers as a group tell a story about where students are academically and how they're growing. The number of students whose data are used in these studies is staggering: combined it will be well into the millions.

The rough outline of the data story is that academic recovery is happening for some students, but not all students. Further, those that started out doing well are outpacing (in terms of growth) those who started out doing less well.

There is a strong desire for us to tell a positive story overall, but we need to reflect the reality of the moment too.
