Edward and Paz argue "writing requires talking to friends, asking help from colleagues, finding answers and ideas in others' writings, and indulging in those practices. We embrace collaboration over isolation, and it is precisely this model of writing that we argue education should promote to writers and students everywhere."

Talk with your breakout room groupmates about ways you can create opportunities for collaboration after this quarter when you are writing for other purposes/courses. How can student writers create networks of support outside of the classroom that will provide opportunities to talk about their writing with other writers? What can you do to find the kind of collaborative support that Edward and Paz argue writing requires?

Some ways that collaboration can occur between student writers are using social media platforms, meeting new people in classes to form collaborative groups, creating chatrooms with other writers and even forming a club around writing. There could also be a structure or approach in situations like these that allow students to easily share and critique with each other. Many classes at Davis use discord as a way to exchange ideas and support or encourage one another. Discord is both efficient, as servers on discord can be organized easily, and easy to use for anyone, in this case students, to communicate in groups or just observe the ideas being exchanged. It promotes collaboration between students due to its accessibility and additionally has  the option to collaborate anonymously for hesitant students.
