In " The Outsiders" by S.E Hinton we learn how choices have consequences. For example when Dally and Johnny burn down the church "I bet we started it" Johnny says (Hinton 93). They were smoking in an abandoned church and we they finished they but it on the ground which started the fire. Here they made a bad choice by not putting there cigarette. In conclusion make the right choice.

In the Outsiders we learn that you violence can come be have good or bad consequence. Dally robbed a grocery store and "Dally raised the gun, and [Ponyboy] thought: You blasted fool. They don't know you're only bluffing" ( Hinton 154). The police officers shot Dally, he new they was nothing in the gun but the officers didn't know that. Violence can be good protection but it can only be danger to yourself or other people.

In "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, a major theme is choices. One instance of this is when Johnny and Pony meet Bob and Randy's gang in the park. Pony says "'You know what a Soc is?"... "White trash with Mustangs and madras' (Hinton 55). Had Pony not ticked them off like this, Johnny may not have needed to even use the switchblade, and a large chunk of the story wouldn't have ever happened. In conclusion, in the novel "The Outsiders" by S.E.Hinton, a theme is that choices have consequences.

This is copyrighted under the
fair-use agreement by
Robert Mattesky (C)

In "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, we learned that is is very important to think about your choices before making them. When Cherry was at a movie with her boyfriend, she said" It's not my idea of a good time to sit in a drive-in and watch people get drunk" (Hinton 27). Cherry made the decision to not drink alcohol because she did not want to her life to be messed up and to get drunk all the time.

In "The Outsiders" by S.E. Hinton, we learn that violence comes with consequences. In the book, Greasers and Socs use violence for every problem they come across, so they sometimes look out for consequences, for example "'...if the fuzz show, you two beat it out of there. The rest of us can only get jailed. You two can get sent to a boys' home'" (Hinton 137). The Greasers and Socs have a rumble where they fight until one group is left standing, so, Darry is assuring Ponyboy and Soda that if they see the cops or any signs of trouble, they run away since they can get the consequence of getting put into a boys home while others can go to jail.

In ¨The Outsiders¨ we learn that making choices can have good and bad repercussions. In the novel, Ponyboy and Johnny decide to save many children from a burning church, but Johnny did not make it out in time. The church was on the point of collapse, and Johnny, ¨shoved [Ponyboy] toward the window. ´Get out!´¨(Hinton 93). Johnny´s repercussion of saving Ponyboy and the other children was bad because he sacrificed himself for his friend and got caught in the fire, then died in the hospital. His choice was good because he saved many lives, and one death is better than multiple.

In "The Oustiders" it is important to think about making good or bad choices. Some characters like Johnny have made good choices, yet it takes a lot of bravery. The greasers and Socs have both made bad choices about sterotyping the other. Some greasers like Ponyboy and Johnny do not rob banks, and some Socs like Cherry do not want to jump greasers. Also, not all choices have good outcomes. When Johnny had saved the kids from the burning church, the good outcome was that all the kids made it out alive, but the bad outcome was Johnny sadly passed away. Many characters in The Outsiders have made good and bad choices, but they learned their lesson from them.

In The Outsiders an example of why violence is bad is when bob was drowning Ponyboy and that got him killed by johnny because he never would have been killed if he wasn't trying to drown Ponyboy.
