Our major first step last year was finding the time within the term to get all staff and students logged in with a briefing on the rules and training. Our engagement levels should build from here.

GC ambassadors are up and running.

We’ve also tackled multiple KPIs: sports challenge, pen pals, writing comp, chess, vymoty + more.

Ask the Artist was enjoyed by students and some of our students had questions selected and this was then celebrated.

Some of the Reading and Writing activities have been useful addition to upper primary curriculum. This has now been expanded into a CCA.

VYMOY sign ups have been good.

The younger students still find it difficult to access - could we have a different sign in method? Passwords don't work for them.

I have struggled to convince any one to take Pen Pals or debate.

Ask MIT - some great resources but we have found it difficult to find a logical place for this - I may have found a solution to this using a couple of registration sessions each month. Trials to start later this month.

Topical talks need more interesting topics.

Ongoing issues with younger children accessing.

Writing Competition - stop adding something that makes it difficult for a students to write. Having a theme is good (e.g. a fictional adventure set in space) but last year they HAD to include a foreign language (plus translation) and this year they HAD to use a character or setting created by someone else on the GC Padlet. Children don’t find GC easy to access anyway and adding too many complicated expectations means that I can’t submit well-written stories because of them not fulfilling an unimportant criteria.

Whole EAL department Y7 - Y10 participated in Writing competition. total of 70 students taking part in the competition. (54 from KS3 and 16 at KS4). 2 winners and 2 runners up school certificate . Gifts for Winners BSB bear key chain , BSB notebook in assembly . 2 stories submitted to GC.

We will also look at leadership of GC next year and a more distributed leadership approach with further buy in from HODs and assimilation of activities into more curriculum areas.
