I think that the theme the author was trying to convey was that civilization or normal life is different to everyone. I thought this was explained as she switched through people point of through. Everyone's idea of civilization/normal life was different depending on their personal experiences and the external settings around them. Like the flu’s influence on their setting, and people's personality. I think that for real life the flu may be representing, politics, cultural views, religion, and life experiences.

Change the world: by Jetta
(Song lyrics are listed 1st then the explanation is at the bottom.)
"Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
'Till there are no rich no more

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you"
I think this song strongly connects to the theme of Station 11 because, the singer is viewing the world as a place of destruction, but she doesn't know how to fix it. So instead she tells everyone what the problem is and she will just watch and wait till someone else fixes it. Just like the theme, her viewing the world as destruction is semi-normal to her, as it's always been happening, and she will wait till someone sees it as she's seeing it to fix it.

"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." -Wayne Dyer
I think this quote connects really well with the theme. The theme is about how people see things differently and the quotes is explaining that if you change how you view things, saw into someone else's perceptive, then things will look much more different.

In the picture its the same way. In the movie clip, the boy dose not really see color because he was born and raised not to, but as he learns new things, he slowly starts to see things differently in color and then suddenly he sees the world in a different prospective.

"Jeevan found himself thinking about how human the city is, how human everything is. We bemoaned the impersonality of the modern world, but that was a lie, it seemed to him; it had never been impersonal at all. There had always been a massive delicate infrastructure of people, all of them working unnoticed around us, and when people stop going to work, the entire operation grinds to a halt. No one delivers fuel to the gas stations or the airports. Cars are stranded. Airplanes cannot fly. Trucks remain at their points of origin. Food never reaches the cities; grocery stores close. Businesses are locked and then looted. No one comes to work at the power plants or the substations, no one removes fallen trees from electrical lines. Jeevan was standing by the window when the lights went out."
I think this evidence fits well with the theme. I think it's about how he only saw the world one way till the end of civilization and then he was beginning to open his mind and see it another.
