In this article, Lafrance discusses one of the cons of the remix. She claims that sometimes a remix can be a fresh new outlook on a previous work of art. However, sometimes, it can be a result of a complete lack of creativity on the remix's creator. 
Many people claimed that Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" was a complete rip-off of David Bowie's "Under Pressure". He agues that one differentiation in the melody prohibits it from being the same tune.
