International-mindedness, to me, is a way of thinking and understanding the social, political and environmental relations. It concerns a broader way of looking at the characteristics of what happens in the world, but, at the same time, it is related to what happens in specific local contexts. In addition, I understand that an international-mindedness must always refer to the student’s local context.

I believe that there are a variety of strategies and different levels of concern. In all, I see that a school can prepare students for global citizenship in Biology and other scientific classes through many different strategies. The discussion related to the nature of Science, for instance, is a specific debate that can provide autonomy to understand the importance of some concepts and ways of thinking. Not only the access to the conceptual meanings, but also the autonomy to apply them in different contexts or even recognize them, are some of the skills that these courses must develop. To do so, students tend to plan an experiment to test a given hypothesis as well as they are asked to analyze if a given procedure is related to a certain hypothesis and, finally, once they are in contact with an experiment, they are asked to deduce which hypothesis is being tested. To demonstrate that Science works under the same cornerstones, we analyze some researchers already published, as one that was concerned about the abnormalities in treefrogs of Pacific and it was published on Science. I think that showing research developed in other communities can help to provoke a way to compare realities.
