The title of the book is Number the stars by Lois Lowery. The Genre of the book is historical fiction. This book starts its story in the third year of the Nazi occupation of Denmark. Annemarie, protagonist in this book wanted to keep her Jewish friend Ellen safe from the Nazis. With the help of her family and the resistance. Annemarie bravely delivered an important package that helped Ellen's family escape to Sweden. I was truly inpressed by Annemarie. She is a girl who tries to help her Jewish friend Ellen. What I was so impressesd about her is her bravery for friend Ellen. I guess the theme of the book is criticism og history. This is shown clearly in chapter 5, when Annemarie hides Ellen's necklace from Nazis soldiers. This scene implies the situation of the period, 1943. Annemarie did some action because she wanted to hide that Ellen is a Jew, so that Ellen doesn't have to be caught. Such actions are effectively shown through the use of flashback and tone. Additionally, the use of tone emphasizes the theme. Especially in the scene that Annemarie telling Ellen to take her necklace off, and hiding it all along. The world can be tough, so the value of criticism of history isn't always easy to see. However, this great book shows it really well. It shows the negative sides of racial discrimination and persecution by borrowing Annemarie's words. After reading the book, I thought that racial discrimination is a bad thing ruining one's life. I won't do such thing. In the end, "Number the stars" is a story that everyone will remember for a long time.

1. I read a book about the time of Nazis's occupation of Denmark, written by Lois Lowery. As this book tells the historical story by setting the character Annemarie and stories she experience, I think te genre of this book is historical fiction.
2. Like I mentioned earlier, this book starts in the third year of Nazi occupation. Annemarie, protagonist in this book tries to save her best freind Ellen from Nazis. 3. Since Ellen is a Jewish, she has to move to other country without Nazis occupation, and that lead Annemarie to do some things for her friend like delivering an important package.
4. After reading this book, I was impressed by Annemarie.
5. I want to tell you that she is a thoughtful girl and tries to help her friend with her spirit of sacrifice. She showed me what a desirable spirit is. She has done many lies, and many hazardous jobs. I learned upright attitudes from Annemarie, and it made this book worth of reading.
6. I think the theme of the book is criticism of history.
7. In chapter 5, it is shown clearly when Annemaroe hides Ellen's necklace from Nazi soldiers. This scene implies the situation of the period well, too.
8. Annemarie did some action because she wanted to hide that Ellen is a Jew, so that Ellen doesn't have to be caught.
9. Also, the action I mentioned above has a special literature technique, flashback and tone.
10. The use of tone especially emphasized the theme,
11. In the scene that Annemarie told Ellen to take her necklace off and hides it all along.
12. As I'm now finalizing this book report, I want to talk about the theme of this book, criticism of history in detail.
13. This book showed the negative sides of racial discrimination and persecution by borrowing Annemarie's words, and displayed the theme very well.
14. In this context, I thought racial discrimination ruins one's life terribly. Nazis's discrimination made most of the Jewish peopleI(in the period of Nazis's time)dead, and discirmination in the America made a black civil rights movements. I would not do such things ever.
15. In the end, this book has made me think of upright attudes in ethical sides, and made me think deeply about racial discrimination. I want to recommend this book to my ages.

The theme of the book is resistance against the Nazis.

7. This is shown clearly in Chapter 10, when a letter Peter wrote in prison, he said he loved everyone, was not afraid, and was proud to do what he could for freedom without being scared.

8. Peter did this because Peter wanted freedom.

9. Such actions are effectively shown through the use of dialogue.

10. Additionally, the use of foreshadowing emphasizes the theme.

11. In Chapter 10, Peter and Annemarie's family plan to help the Jews escape.

12. This scene shows that Peter is a member of the Danish resistance.

13. Peter fought against the Nazis, but eventually died.

14. I was sad to read this book and know that the Nazis were really cruel and many people were sacrificed.

15.

After I learn about World War One, I became interested in historical fiction. And I read ‘Number the stars’ by Losi Lowry. The back ground of novel is Nazi occupation Denmark. That’s why Annemarie escaped Ellen from Denmark. While reading this book, Annemarie, the main character was the most memorable. She considered Ellen her best friend even though she is Jewish, and she is a character who values the friendship of trying to protect Ellen from the Nazis. When I look at the characters and think about the theme of the book is friendship. In chapter 7, Ellen ask Annmarie “where is my necklace?” And Annemarie said “A very secret where no one will ever find it. And I will keep it there for you until it is safe for you to wear it again” the character is well represented in the scene where they talk. Because if Ellen’s necklace was discovered by the German soldiers, and Annemarie worried about Ellen being taken away. This part was well expressed as a dialogue between two girls. The theme was expressed through imagery, it was well seen in chapter 4, when Ellen and Annemarie play with paper toy. And in chapter 7 Annemarie ran across the heigh grass meadow with Ellen. In this novel , we have a Jewish Ellen as a character, making it difficult to be friend, nevertheless, it showed well that friendship connects through discrimination. The story of fighting for friendship made this novel a long lasting novel in my memory.
