Today, I went with Dr. Christine to the medical ward as she takes care of pain treatments. So we went to different wards and checked up on patients and changed medicines or doses of medicines depending on their needs. After that, I went to the operating theatre and saw the steps of a surgery starting with when the patient gets put under anaesthesia up to the part when they get operated on.

Today, I started off by watching a robotics surgery. This surgery consisted of replacing the small intestine back in its place because the patient had a hernia. The robot had probes with scissors and some sort of tongue so that the surgeon could make an incision into the patient and put the small intestine back in its place. I also saw how the patient gets put under anaesthesia with propofol and gets painkillers such as morphine and fentanyl to feel less pain during the operation. When the surgeon had done their job, I saw the anaesthetist get the person awake and well. After that, I went to the clinic and saw how an OMF surgeon helps people post operation recover from cancers and jaw disfigurements.

Today I spent one hour discovering the simulator rooms where they have all sorts of mannequins. After that, we went to the operating theatre and saw a surgeon perform dialysis. This is where someone's kidneys are unable to filter blood naturally, so the surgeon connects a vein with an artery to create an arteriovenous fistula. After that, we went to see an operation where they had to put metal poles in someone's ankles as they were badly broken. After the surgeon had done his job of putting the poles and sewing the patient back up, we saw the anaesthetist perform a nerve block to help reduce the pain that the patient felt.

Today I went to the ophthalmology clinic and visited each speciality. I started off by seeing how the optometrist checks the person's lenses to see if they can see well. Some then go to a machine to get a retina scan to see the optic nerves to see if they are damaged. Then we went to see an ophtalmologist who prescribed medicine and new glasses to patients by running a couple more tests.
