What made it such a positive experience? The feedback was measured on my own progress, it was positive, boosted my moral and confidence performing the role. What skills were used by the person giving the feedback? The feedback was direct peer to peer, it was specific and constructive summarising the strengths and weaknesses. Where did they give you the feedback? The feedback was 1-2-1 in the review meeting and reflected in the appraisal award (website) achievement for achieving the values of the company. What was your key learning from this experience? The feedback and key learning were specific to the coaching role, working independently, managing learners new to the role of insurance. I should continue to encourage learner engagement, tailor the training to the diverse needs of the learners. (MF)

the feed back I was given made it postive because the manger gave me her time, and said how well I did, which was specific the manger really meant it in her eye contact and her tone of voice. the skills that were used by my manger she spoken about my strengths on how I hadled the situation, the feed back was given back in a friendly manner but also a motvation manner. my manger gave me the feed back in the office where my manger sits behind me, my key learning from this experience is the person has to give the feedback and say why that person did well - dont just be general break it down why was that person good ect. good feed back should be celebrated - talk about company values in try and bring them in as it show how the person is living up to theses.

Don’t sandwich negative feedback between positive messages

People no longer believe in the feedback sandwich, or the s**t sandwich, as it’s often referred to. The idea was to start off with positive feedback, then deliver the ‘bad news’ as such, and end on a further positive note. The problem with this was that a) the positive feedback would lose all impact as people would only remember the negative and b) that the glossing over of the constructive feedback means the recipient misses the chance to truly understand what it is they could do differently or better in future.
