Otherwise known as estacy, molly is a type of drug that is meant to cure depression, so naturally the user will take it because It makes them happy. The user will take the drug in the form of a pill. However, with anti-depression drugs comes a lot more problems, such as paranoia, memory loss, lack of sleep and even heart rate increase. The risk of addiction with this drug is extremely high, and this is why it is a schedule 1 drug. Addictionblog.org says... "Molly is a scheduled I substance because it is not only illegal but has a high potential of abuse. While many people do not develop chemical dependency on Molly, psychological craving (the defining characteristic of addiction) can be quite high. Molly effects the brain by altering the chemical responses of neurotransmitters."

Gigavoice. “Is Molly Addictive?” Addiction Blog, Addiction Blog, drug.addictionblog.org/is-molly-addictive/.

The use of drugs in hip-hop and rap has long been a trend, but you'd be surprised to see how many rappers referenced molly in recent years. One of the most notable in the past year was Futures "Mask Off", which mentioned molly and a separate drug called Percocets within the first two lines. This is obviously a problem because he is promoting the use of these drugs, displaying them as "cool" to teen listeners.

As with any other drug, Molly or Ecstasy can and is very dangerous, overuse of the drug can lead to death and or extreme changes in muscle tendencies. This includes your brain and your heart, which is very very concerning and if not for anything else, do not try Molly because of this.

":The side effects of ecstasy may include nausea, dizziness, confusion, and anxiety. The drug acts on the body's muscular system, causing muscle tension, involuntary teeth clenching, and rapid eye movement. "Ecstasy deaths are a fact of life," noted Decca Aitkenhead in the Independent. High doses of the drug can bring on hyperthermia, a dangerously high increase in body temperature. This condition can damage internal organs such as the liver, kidneys, heart, and even the brain. Drug researchers have confirmed that ecstasy has the potential to cause permanent brain damage."

Myra Weatherly, writing in Ecstasy and Other Designer Drug Dangers, commented: "These imitation drugs mixed by 'BATHTUB CHEMISTS' can be much more POTENT than the real thing. Not only are these drugs dangerous in themselves, but a goof in the lab—such as overheating a substance—can mean death."

Weatherly, Myra. Ecstasy and Other Designer Drug Dangers. Berkeley Heights, NJ: Enslow Publishers, 2000.

"Designer Drugs." UXL Encyclopedia of Drugs and Addictive Substances, edited by Barbara C.

"MDMA was first made in 1912. It was used to improve psychotherapy beginning in the 1970s and became popular as a street drug in the 1980s. MDMA is commonly associated with dance parties, raves, and electronic dance music. It is often sold mixed with other substances such as ephedrine, amphetamine, and methamphetamine."
MDMA was originally used to treat PTSD or severe depression but it was never meant to be a permanently used drug, and before we could outlaw it the club community had already become attached to it.
It has since become an illegal substance in the eyes of the government as it should be.

Anderson, Leigh, ed.
