Jupiter has three distinct atmospheric layers, though it is hard to distinguish, since the planet is made mostly of gas. Jupiter is a gas giant, so it is hard to distinguish the outer layer of it, that contribute to all the swirls on it's surface, between the actual gas that makes up it's surface. The surface is made up of mostly hydrogen and helium. Jupiter has three unique things about it. First of all, it was recently discovered that Jupiter has very faint rings, that are not very visible. Also, Jupiter has four moons, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. Jupiter also has a huge storm on it, that has been there for over 300 years, and is twice the size of planet earth.
