Every student brings valuable knowledge, culture, and perspective to the classroom. Thus, I should try to implement their culture into the lessons and create opportunities for all students to participate through structured partner talk, small group collaboration, and whole-class discussions with sentence frames or visual supports. Given students options in how they choose to participate in their education will allow EB/MLs to find what works best for them and connecting to their backgrounds will boost interest in the lesson.

My teacher values school time and the class as a "classroom family". She has shown me just how much she can get from students by connecting their school lives to their home lives as well. By being in contact with parents, she stays up to date on what certain students need and alters her lesson to capitalize on that information. With struggling students, my teacher gives them specialized instruction that fits their learning needs and contacting parents about those methods will allow the student to get that help even at home.

The learning in this module helps me achieve the goals of the Anchor Competencies Framework by providing strategies and knowledge to support Emergent Bilingual/Multilingual Learners (EB/MLs) in a holistic, culturally responsive way. Through concepts like VABB (Validate, Affirm, Build, Bridge), I’ve learned how to identify and value students’ assets, build trusting relationships, and create an inclusive classroom community where all students feel seen and heard. The module reinforces the idea that supporting EB/MLs is not just about teaching language, but about fostering their social, emotional, and cultural development, which aligns directly with the goals of the Anchor Competencies Framework.
