“Our focus in this study, therefore, is to describe how individual users value security protection within a set of conflicting and desirable objectives that are relevant, independent, and relatively complete [29]. The selection of the aforementioned objectives is motivated by the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) [30]. For instance, the TAM “usability” factor maps to the time required for users to interact with a security tool, which is captured by the minimizing latency objective in our model. Similarly, the TAM “usefulness” factor is conceptually linked to the maximizing productivity objective in our model. The selection of the cost objective is motivated by the fact that commercial phishing filters are licensed to users for a fee. Likewise, commercial phishing filters vary in terms of missed attacks, depending on the sophistication of the detection algorithm employed, and may also allow control by the user.”

Writer starts the paragraph by stating the objectives in general. After that he describes used methodology and objectives in more detail.

The cloud provider will make changes to services, sometimes even without notice. Although in most cases there will be no problems generated, the risk should be identified. Also, due to flexible pay per usage pricing model, there might be unpredictable cost involved if services have been heavily used in unplanned manner (Harvey 2017). Also, if public cloud services are used over Internet, there might be potential problems should network latency be a mission-critical factor (Sanders, & Forrest 2014).

By far the best way to protect against different kind of security threats and any other kind of threat is education. The more the customers or employees are educated the more they know and the more they can be prepared for different kind of anomalies and then act on them. There are only a couple of problems in education. Firstly, the education itself is very time consuming. When living and working in very hectic society, education of this sort is usually considered pointless. Secondly, it is very hard to reach all of the employees. It is important to educate every person in the organization as they all are using the same tools no matter what their job description is. Nowadays attacks can be well targeted so no one is safe. The third point is that as the threats are constantly changing it is very hard to keep the education up to date, so some kind of a basic level of knowhow should be established.

The paragraph starts from general and goes into the specifics of use security and its problems.

The aim of the study was also to produce fresh perspectives for major disaster guidance in Finland. HMIMMS offers new and updated operating models that have been tested, developed and used successfully outside Finland for many years. The benefits of the newer system can be used to develop potential problems identified in the existing major accident and multi-patient situation plans. In the future, this research can be used to prepare for major accident and multiproliferation situations, to prepare guidelines and to train for these type of events beforehand.

Before using the metrics framework one needs to have an understanding of one’s agency’s CSIR capabilities, its maturity level, and what types of measurements exist for evaluating CSIR. The first step is to determine what is the objective and purpose for measuring CSIR capabilities. The second step is to select what measurement to use based off the determination of the objective and purpose. The third step requires the identification of all data sources and responsible parties. Then the measurement is conducted with the appropriate approval from management. The fourth step is to tailor the results specific to the needs of the audience base, giving consideration to viewing requirements. The fifth step is to assess the results and determine if action is needed. The sixth step is to take action, if needed, and review all previous steps that have been taken.

- The first sentence identifies why this paragraph is written.

Different studies shows, that CSIR should be part of high-level planning. Chew, Swanson, Stine, Bartol, Brown, and Robinson (2008) stated that federal agencies need to link information security with enterprise strategic planning. West-Brown, Stikvoort, Kossakowski, Killcrece, Ruefle, and Zajicek (2003) also stated that CSIRTs mission must complement the organization’s mission. The point of information security efforts is to support the agency’s overall goals and objectives. Additionally, in an interview with Gartner analyst Michael Smith (personal communication, 2010), Smith noted that the point of CSIR is to assist in the agency’s mission. Therefore, measuring CSIR should follow suit by looking at ways to improve CSIR capabilities to support the agency’s mission. Tying security metrics to the organization’s mission is vital to the success of security metrics for CSIR (see Figure 1).

The ABC-model is seen as a starting point of many other cost management models and focuses on costs related to products, services or departments depending on what is under evaluation. (Ellström et. al 2012, 1066-1071.) In the ABC-model activities related to the production of a product or service are divided into a hierarchy of four levels: unit-level, batch-level, product-sustaining and facility-sustaining. The unit-level includes activities done in proportion to the produced volume. The batch-level costs are related to every batch and do not change de-pending on the batch size. Product-sustaining activity costs support the product portfolio and facility-sustaining activity costs are needed to maintain the production facility. The model aims at considering the relevant costs in the cost analysis. (Ittner, Larcker & Randall 1997, 144-145.) Ittner et al. (1997, 145-146) state that one challenge related to the ABC-model is that even if the ABC-model says that the different levels are independent, the model does not take into consideration how total number of products, batches, and units relates to each other and the total cost.

Good example because:
Generalization at start. A visit (20 October 2016) to the webpages of the biogas plants shows that of these 23 plants 8 are already in operation and it can be concluded that the biogas production amount in 2016 is higher than the amounts in 2015 reported by Huttunen & Kuittinen (2016). According to Huttunen & Kuittinen (2016, 29), the co-digestion plants process biowaste, manure and sewage sludge. The oldest plant was built in 1990 and is one of the world’s first co-digestion plants. In 2015 225 000 ton of sewage sludge and 180 000 ton of biowaste was processed at the co-digestion plants.

Primary reason for the scheduling a project is to ensure that the deadlines can be met. Most projects have a deadline imposed which is the handover date to customer. Scheduling of procurement activities varies depending on size of the project. Some projects are very detailed scheduled with WBS with Gantt charts, including procurement and supplier lead times and smaller projects can be completely missing scheduling. There are two ways you can develop a schedule. One is to begin at the end and work back until you arrive at the beginning. The second method is to start at the beginning and work toward the end. Usually, it is easiest to start at the beginning (Heagney 2011, 90). Without proper project scheduling it is difficult to ensure that the original handover date can be met. In addition the unsynchronized activities can cause extra costs for the project.

Plan before taking direct actions, to have a clear and valid reason and mission for the change processes. Communication is the most important key when it comes to change anything in business no matter how big or small the business is, this includes stakeholder and staff within the business and also shareholders and consumers as well. Integrate others in change, so then there are many points of views for an effective change. Motivate the team by finding ways and links to connect the company with its staff to continue working and contributing to the business. Self-confidence by having a faith and trust in changes also limiting the workers from the use of old habits. In most of technology companies the change the workload increases (learning new things, the ability of staff to learn new, some adapt and learn faster than others, some are not willing to change or fear the change based on previous work experience) this could cause delays so being supportive is also key to gain staff commitment and trust.

The living lab as an open innovation network

According to von Hippel (2007), open and user innovation

assume a variety of forms.

A good topic sentence for the below be: Living Lab categoriesactors
Living labs can be categorized according to which actor

drives the activity in the initiative (cf. Ståhlbröst and

Bergvall-Kåreborn, 2011; Leminen, 2013). Living labs differ

in terms of their activities, network structure and organization,

and the driving actor plays an important role in the

development of innovation. The actor orchestrating the living

lab network has a crucial influence on the value of activities

because the living lab requires responsible coordination and

management (Kviselius et al., 2009). Management of a living

lab necessitates that a certain actor takes responsibility for

starting and promoting the activities. The coordinator should comprehend

the entire living lab entity to create value for its members

(Leminen and Westerlund, 2012). Thus, we draw on

the categorization established by Leminen et al. (2012a), who

identify utilizer-driven, enabler-driven, provider-driven and

user-driven living labs.
Good example (Michel Raes)“Eliminating undesirable incidents from occurring in an industrial control environment is difficult because sensors, actuators, controllers and networks will experience failures at some point. Since incidents are unlikely to be eliminated entirely, it is necessary to minimize their impacts. This mitigation (or minimization) is traditionally accomplished by incorporating redundant components. Installing multiple sensors and actuators such as using two identical flow meters (sensor redundancy) or pumps (actuator redundancy) when only one is necessary is an example of component redundancy. Having a duplicate programmable logic controller (PLC) ready to take over control activities if the primary programmable logic controller fails is an example of control redundancy.”The text has a clear structure from general to specific:- Eliminating incidents is difficult (because…)- Eliminating entirely is unlikely (therefor it is necessary to minimize impact)- How to minimize impact: redundancy- Examples: example of component redundancy, example of control redundancy

Own paragraph (Michel Raes):SIEM systems are useful in getting visibility of what happens overall in the network and in the information systems. In many large scale IT-environments there is thousands of log files, the size of the log files is very large, and the log files have different formats or are unstructured. As a result, all those log files are not readily readable or searchable. Also, it is not possible to correlate information from different log files. SIEM systems attempt to solve these problems by collecting and indexing log files in a scalable way and by providing a search interface to interact with the data. Furthermore, SIEM systems secure the log data being collected. Intelligent SIEM systems can even correlate information from different sources and autonomously search for trends and outliners. And last but not least, SIEM systems provide users visualizations such as reports, dashboards and alerts.

In addition, by 2020 the volume of mobile M2M connections will
grow with CAGR index of 45% [7] up to 2.1 billion connections. Given the growing mass scale of M2M services in all industries, they will dominate over basic services
(voice & data) in 4G and 5G networks.
5G European development strategy also aims to enable subscribers by 2025 to choose how to connect to TV broadcast: via 5G modem or antenna with DVB-T, so this will require appropriate quality management mechanisms. The reason are the micro facial expressions.

People can smile without being really happy, however, this artificial smile often is interpreted correctly.

The main purpose of strategy implementation is to change the company’s strategic goals into practical actions. Implementation is an important phase, because without successful implementation the strategy will not be transferred to the employee level and people will not be able to understand it or act upon it. (Hrebiniak 2006, 12). No matter how good the strategy is and how well it is planned, if the implementation phase is lacking or done poorly, the strategy will fail (Speculand 2009, 167). In fact, it has been studied that majority of the strategic plans, for distinct reasons, fail to be successfully implemented (Kaplan & Norton 2002, 2; Sterling 2003, 27; Speculand 2009, 167). The fail-ure of strategy implementation is a notable concern of company top manage-ment, not only because then the whole strategy fails, but also, as it has a negative impact on significant issues, such as organizational growth and com-petitiveness. Executives are also more judged by their ability to implement strategy than by the strategy itself, which is understandable as it is the imple-mentation which brings revenues and offers competitive advantage to the company. (Lippitt 2007, 54.)

Comment: In this example paragraph, the writer starts by defining strategy implementation and that is followed by why it is important. The whole para-graph is connected to same subject and there is no unnecessary sentences describing some other subject.

Strategy implementation is much harder than the creation, and without implementation, a strategy does not exist. Even if executives are concerned with the strategy implementation, Speculand (2009, 167) claims that most of the implementation failures are caused by the leaders’ wrong mindset and approach to implementation, which are based on the illusion that strategy implementation is easy compared to the creation of strategy. It can even be claimed that having a poor strategy, which is well implemented is a smaller problem than a good strategy which is poorly implemented. The reason for this is that presumably a company which is good at implementation can evaluate which changes need to be made to the strategy, change it, and then carry out the same implementation efforts again. Consequently, as a rule, salespeople are positive about non-commercial websites; some use them as training tools or as instruments for monitoring the competition and the commercial landscape so that they can more effectively meet the needs and deal with the counter-arguments of clients. Websites can be used as self-training tools instead of non-scheduled training programmes or programmes organised at the last moment. They can also be used with clients or outside of working hours (Alba et al., 1997). Furthermore, websites can improve communication by enabling salespeople to advise their clients about merchandising thanks to “virtual” shop windows, thereby increasing the market value of the brand’s products.

- From general “salespeople using the internet”

- to specific “how/why to use internet = training, monitoring the competition, to better meet the needs and deal with the counter-arguments, to improve communication

As a general principle I try to limit my inquiry to those features of human relations that are not evident in everyday discourse, but nevertheless affect the end result of human relations. It is also necessary to understand that these limitations of inquiry are set from the standard perspective of understanding, and as such can be discussed in relation to other matters. Dimensions of knowing each other are so myriad, that one could easily end up in chaos without restrictions (Adler & Van Doren 1972, 207). When reading in preparation for this thesis I tried to find coherent definition, or a set of definition of which could synthesis be made, for the terms in the title. I found out, there is no salient definitions for any of the terms. It is necessary to define the terms used, but before that, I want to delimit some interesting topics out.

Many different factors affect wound healing, and those factors can be divided into three categories. The first, healing depends on the conditions in both the wound itself and the surrounding tissues. The location of the wound, its cleanliness, size, and the way it was born are weighty factors influencing wound healing. Secondly, there are also patient-dependent factors. These include age, tissue tension, possible obesity, and circulatory problems, nutrition, smoking, and stress. The third, wound healing is related to the nurse's knowledge of the wound healing process and wound management. (Iivanainen & Soppi 2013, 13; Lagus, 2013, 29.)

In some situations, the interviewee can be asked to propose her or his own insights into certain occurrences that can be used a basis for further inquiry. (Yin 2009, 107.). On the other hand, additional questions may be required to explore the research question and objectives given the nature of events within particular organizations (Saunders, Lewis & Thornhill 2009, 320). The more the respondent assists in this way, the more her or his role becomes an informant rather than a respondent. Key informants can very often be critical to the success of a case study. Such persons provide the case study investigator with insights into a matter and can also initiate access to corroboratory or contrary sources of evidence. It is often pointed out that a case study investigator fails to develop a sufficiently operational set of measures and that subjective judgements are used to collect the data. To meet the test to construct validity, an investigator must be sure to cover two steps: first to define the change in terms of specific concepts and second to identify operational measures that match the concept.

Trust is one of the major challenges virtual teams face. The development of trust and

trustworthiness has been deemed essential to collaborative work (Mayer et al., 1995). However, physical distribution, changing team members, cultural differences and lack of prior history (Lipnack and Stamps, 2000) can lead to severe difficulties in establishing
effective trusting relationships. In particular, trust is regarded as an essential ingredient for

cooperation (Hwang and Burgers, 1997). When engaging in a trusting relationship, parties are more willing to overlook the risk of being taken advantage of and act for collective gain. According to Hwang and Burgers (1997), a trustworthy partner in a relationship will facilitate cooperation by reducing the risk of being exploited and decreasing opportunistic

behaviours. Empirical research confirms that mutual trust and trustworthiness among participants is one of the prerequisites for collaboration to occur in a team. It has positive

impact on the effectiveness of virtual teams (Hakonen and Lipponen, 2009) and a significant

impact on the GVT’s performance (Henttonen and Blomqvist, 2005). However, the level of trust on a GVT’s performance varies based on the conditions within the team. Furthermore, trust development relies on the cultural backgrounds of the members (Yusof and Zakaria, 2012). Dulewicz (2013) describes research culminating in the design of a scale to measure

trustworthiness which has been used in several studies of individuals (Van Den Assem and

Dulewicz, 2014, 2015). He advocates the use of different item sets for measuring relationships with different trustees.

1 b)
This paragraph has a general opening “Trust is one of the major challenges virtual teams face”.

When leading a multicultural organization, the leading style should be chosen carefully. Mäkilouko (2003) believed that the polycentric leadership style (Figure 7.) is the most effective multicultural leadership strategy. The term polycentrism is used widely in international business management. Polycentrism-oriented businesses adopt belief that every country is unique and needs a different approach (Wright 2014). In the cultural context, Mäkilouko (2003) defined polycentrism as the way that leaders treat cultures with respect and try to preserve them as they are. Leaders should try to learn about different cultures and adjust their styles accordingly. According to Mäkilouko (2003), this strategy works effectively when team members are located in various countries. The leaders in these teams usually work as integrators between cultures. However, polycentrism is seen to be a difficult strategy to apply. It requires a high level of experience in leadership with multicultural teams.

Marketing consists of different processes where communication is one of the most important element. The potential customer should be convinced by the means of communication about the quality and competitiveness of the service compared to alternative solutions. (Tikkanen et al 20017, 43.) Communication today is challenging because everyone is surrounded by the endless flow of messages via different channels 24/7. The ability to receive and interpret single marketing messages is limited. (Tikkanen et al 2007, 46.) With the right kind of communication and content, you can guide the consumer step-by-step to the buying decision. This requires knowledge; you have to know exactly what are the customer’s needs, challenges and problems. When your product/service is the best solution to a customer’s problem, you win.

There are four major variables in the segmentation process for consumer markets. The first is a geographic variable that tells where and in what kind of surroundings customers live. The company may decide that it targets the customer focus locally even though it operates nationally, and vice versa. The second demographic variable gives factors like customer`s gender, age, income, and education. The third, psychographic variable describes a customer`s lifestyle and social class and the fourth behavioral variable divides customers into segments based on their knowledge, attitudes, and responses of the product. The demographic variable is mostly used in segmentation because it brings needs and wants and it is easier to measure than other variables, but many marketers believe that behavioral variables create the best base for segmentation. Secondly, social media helps everyone from miles away communicate with each other more easily and faster. If everyone uses the modern technology wisely, this world will seem like a little blue dot when they all easily connect to the devices and share their passion with other people. Finally, people also reap benefits of social media,
as businessmen can interact with many customers and earn more money on the social networking sites.

At the same time, on the demand side, “consumers are now favoring locally made products, both for environmental reasons and because of desire to know more about the merchandise they buy – where, how and by whom a product was made. They want an antidote to the homogenization of choices that are offered by chain stores and chain restaurants and while e-commerce offers convenience it does that by eliminating the shopping experience that many shoppers feel is just an integral to the buying process as the items that are for sale” (Barras, 2016, pp. ix-x).

In this chapter, the story line is clear and develops logically from the claim that pop ups are an important concept to the reasons why it is so.

Theoretically, the stock performance effect of SRI is ambivalent. The following three hypotheses are discussed (e.g. Hamilton et al., 1993, Bauer et al. 2005): First, if SRI increases the value of socially responsible firms by decreasing the expected returns and the cost of capital of these firms, SRI portfolios deliver lower stock returns than conventional portfolios. The second hypothesis is that the stock returns of SRI portfolios are higher than those of their conventional counterparts if SRI characteristics are not correctly priced by stock markets. Finally, the third hypothesis is that SRI is neither penalized nor rewarded by stock markets if corporate sustainability performance or corporate social responsibility (CSR), referring to corresponding corporate environmental, social, and ethical activities, is not priced. This argument represents the common finance view with SRI not influencing the cost of capital of socially responsible firms. Against this background, the question whether SRI leads to higher or lower stock returns can only be examined empirically.

This paragraph is a good example because it starts with the controlling idea. One important reason for security is the overall security, i.e. the internet comprises interconnected systems and any of its vulnerable partsmay be used to harm the other parts of the internet. On the other hand, resilience itself is a twofold topic: (1) the system has to be robust against attacks, i.e., the attack is prevented in its first phase, and (2) the system has to be able to return to a safe state after the attack.

Our findings contribute to internal organizational reputation and internal branding research in several ways. First, at the most basic level, we illustrate the significance of reputation management for contemporary organizations by showing how reputation acts as a strong internal organizing principle guiding strategies, practices, and control systems. Second, by identifying coercive reputationcentred HRM practices restricting prohibitive employee voice, we advance understanding of the “people management” aspects of reputation management and the perceived influence of such systems on employees. These aspects are important because the way in which organizations approach the regulation of employee voice through HRM practices could significantly shape employees' willingness to engage in reputation-building behaviour and ultimately act as “corporate ambassadors”. Thus, knowledge about how HRM influences employees’ reputation-building behaviour and communication is crucial for our understanding of the conditions under which employees become brand ambassadors rather than brand saboteurs.

First there is generally explained what this paragraph is about.

Firstly, there is global efficiency. This means that international companies gain cost efficiency and profitability through optimizing their locations in different parts of the business. Second, multi-market flexibility, means multi-national companies are forced to answer to changing market needs quickly. This gives advantage in long-term, as customer relationship management is about understanding the customer, and this fast responding helps the company to be the first to discover something. Third is gaining worldwide learning.

The need for corporate diversity strategies arises as businesses are increasingly diversifying within the domestic markets and into a global arena. The importance of building effective relationships across cultural barriers becomes more evident. Salmen & Kan (2006) note that managers can lack the skills to develop these relationships with others whose attitudes and behavior differ significantly from their own. Problems can arise internally, when the expectations of ex-pat. executives do not match those of local staff. Dealing with other individuals and organizations outside the company misunderstandings can undermine delicate negotiations and cause grave offence to potential business partners. Macedo (2003) argues that suspicions and anxieties about diversity should not be dismissed, and people should adopt an adequately subtle account of the virtues on which a healthy liberal democracy depends. Macedo’s (2003) conclusions lead away from embracing the opportunities and benefits in diversity to focusing on the perceived threats.

”National and international communities are increasingly recognising early marriage (i.e. before the age of 18) as a serious problem in developing countries. Early marriage is not only a violation of human rights but also as a hindrance to national development [1]. Although progress has been made in reducing the prevalence of early marriages, it still remains a pervasive problem in South Asia with females being disproportionately at risk [2]. There is evidence that nearly 50% of all early marriages occur in this region [3]. The prevalence of early marriages in Bangladesh is 64% of all marriages, in India it is 47% and in Nepal 41% [4]. There is empirical evidence from a re- cent study conducted in these countries that there has been a decline in marriages among girls in early adoles- cence (below 14 years), but no improvement in the older adolescent age group of 14–17 years [5]. ” (Mehra et al. 2018, 2.)

There are several social determinants that clearly influence the prevalence of child marriage. For example, a low level of education is increasing the risk of being married off early whereas the likelihood of child marriage is decreased among girls with secondary education. (Paul, 2019, 18, 20). Girls’ educational attainment is often restricted due to patriarchal norms (Seth et al., 2018, 394) and because of poverty (Paul, 2019, 18, 20). Overall, there can be seen a widespread education-, wealth-, and residence-based inequalities in South Asia which are concentrated among more disadvantaged groups and causing child marriage (MacQuarrie & Juan, 2019, 9-12).

The best friends, cliques and wider groups change constantly, and they rarely last over an academic year. The majority of adolescents report having a best friend and close friends, and they also belong to cliques and wider groups, but no all adolescents do. Sociometric status studies describe how adolescents can be classified with terms popular, rejected, neglectedd, controversial or average. A rejected status seems to be more stable than other statuses. Bullied victims might be seen as one type, and those adolescents can be bullied by a group of peers.

Smart grids are typical CPSs due to the extensive deployment of advanced technologies and applications that systematically interconnect centralized and distributed controllers, sensors, physical devices, and various stakeholders involved in many processes [4]. The convergence of power systems, communication systems, and computing systems will enable numerous intelligent CPS applications that change the way we interact with both cyber and physical worlds. On the other hand, the heterogeneity among these systems impedes the development of these applications and raises many challenges on CPS design and operation. Therefore, advanced CPS-based methodologies that can fundamentally change the way of designing and operating smart grids must be adopted to handle the challenges introduced by the inherent heterogeneity and concurrency of smart grids. In this paper, we will present an overview of smart grids from a CPS perspective.

This is a good example because it has been started with a topic scentence formulates the whole paragraph within this topic.

Conventional design and operation for power systems, communication systems, and computing systems are concernseparated considering limited interactions, resulting in less costefficiency and insufficient capability of interoperability [13]. The increasing stringent requirements for real-time applications force a full integration of all the domain systems during the design and operation process. The major challenge on smart grid design and operation arises from the heterogeneity among these systems. The concurrency, which is the intrinsic nature of physical power systems, cannot be fully realised in the abstractions in today's communication and computing systems [14]. However, timing is not included in the semantics of programming languages used in software-based systems, and thus further hidden from higher levels of abstractions. Lack of timing properties in the abstractions may result in failure of abstractions, since the successful execution of a piece of code cannot guarantee to meet the timing deadlines [14]. Therefore, the heterogeneity rooted in CPSs requires multiple layers of abstractions with sufficiently defined interfaces to be created during the design process [15] .
The design and operation of power, communication and computing system is not well suited in terms of interoperable communication and cost eifficiency.

Nowadays, micro-grid is a key enabler of the concept of energy internet. In energy internet, the formation of micro-grids in several geographic locations and operating their application in an efficient, coordinated way can play a significant role. Since the heart of micro-grid is the different distributed energy resources, lack of co-ordination can be the source of different kinds of system disturbances. This is due to the limited generation capacity, weather dependent generation characteristics [1]. On the other hand, well-organized and coordinated operation and control of micro-grids located in the same or different geographical locations can ensure the economic efficiency and energy reliability in energy internet. Different control mechanisms to control microgrids are existing [2], [3]. [2] describes the hierarchical and distributed control of micro-grids, whereas [3] highlighted centralized control, decentralized control, and distributed control of the micro-grid. Distributed control can also be implemented in a hierarchical way where primary control can be realized using the self-intelligence capability of devices, secondary and tertiary control need to be done using fog and cloud computing mechanisms [4].

"According to the Flynn et al. (1990), “empirical” means “knowledge based on real world observations or experiment”. Thus, empirical research is used to describe field-based research, which uses data gathered from naturally occurring situations or experiments, rather than via laboratory or simulation studies. Flynn et al. (1990) clarified that any empirical research article can have one or more of the following empirical research designs namely, single case study, multiple case study, panel study, focus group and survey. We selected empirical research articles from the selected population of journals on the similar lines, with an exception of including those articles also which used action research design. Articles which used either of the aforementioned empirical research designs were considered as empirical research articles. The articles, which used hypothetical data for a case or a hypothetical case, were not considered as empirical research articles."

I chose this paragraph as a good example, because the first sentence of the paragraph effectively sums up what the word “empirical” means.
