In this article, an epidemic is described as unexpected increase in the number of disease cases in a specific geographical area. Examples of this include diseases such as yellow fever, measles, and polio. Contrastingly, pandemics growth rate is far more exponential and cases get higher every day. Pandemics are also spread over a wider region and effect several countries and populations. The main difference between the two is the degree to which the diseases spread.
