Temperate decidous forest, because temperate meaning no extreme temperatures and decidous meaning tree or shrub that sheds its leaves annually, and a forest is a large area covered with growing trees.Altitude, temperature, precipitation, and sunlight are a few examples of the major components that make up the ecosystem. I were able to walk around and observe different organisms that live in this particular biome. I choose to observe the moss. In order for moss to grow it needs a lot of water,no extreme temperatures, and no direct sunlight, which is why its found in the shaded parts of the forest. Temperate decidous forests are famous for thier dramatic color change that occurs every fall.
In the temperate decidous forest humans harvest for wood, timber, and charcoal. Humans hunt for deer, and other animals. In the temperate decidous forest there are many threats. One threat is air pollutants. The air pollutants ate killing the wildlife and poisoning soil. Another threat is acid rain. The acid rain has damaged leaves and decreased prouduction of fruit from trees. In order to create a sustainable future for my ecosystem it is essential to make sure that you reduce the amount of threats in the ecosystem and to make sure that the species of the ecosystem are healthy.***

I prefer living in the "TROPICAL RAINFOREST", why? because there are 6 reasons why tropics are awesome:
~the vibe- the vibe in tropical climates always seems to be chilled out . Everyone is happy, smiling and laughing and life feels relaxed and stress-free

~The Temperature- Typically, even during the wet season, the precipitation will only last a couple of hours before clearing up. No matter if it’s raining, cloudy or sunny, the temperature is nice and warm! Not only is the sun shining for most of the year, but the air is humid and moist, which gives your skin a nice glow and helps your joints to become more limber.

~The Beaches- Most tropical countries aren’t landlocked and being able to go for a swim whenever you want, lay on blindingly white sands, or simply gaze out to sea is pretty amazing. The most beautiful, picture-perfect islands and beaches are found in the tropics.

~The Fresh Food - Guava, papaya, pineapple, coconut, mango, lychee, sour sop, banana and star fruit are just some of the many sweet fruits found in the tropics…the list could go on, and on. Aside from fruits, living near the water means being able to enjoy fresh seafood!

~The Jungle- The jungle is an great place to go hiking and trekking. Plus, it’s usually the best place to spot interesting animals, plants and trees. The sound of the birds and frogs chirping, the bamboo cracking and swaying and walking through the dense and muddy vegetation gives a sense of true exploration, you never know what you’ll find. It’s best to plan a trek that ends at a waterfall!

~The Activities- You’ll never be bored while living in a tropical paradise. If you’re especially adventurous, you could don a mask and fins and explore the underwater world. The scuba diving and snorkelling is excellent in the tropics, the colours of the coral and the marine life are all top-notch.

*

The rainforests are home to half of the Earth's plant and animal species.
They are winter homes to many birds that breed in temperate latitudes.
Tropical rainforests are some of the most beautiful wildernesses on our planet.
They are home to tribal cultures that have survived successfully in the forests for many thousands of years.
The forests are a potential source of medicinal plants that may benefit everyone on Earth.
The ecosystem of the rainforest is based on the most complex interdependence of plants and animals. This is both the forest's strength and its weakness: highly specialized organisms are particularly vulnerable to disturbance, because they cannot adapt fast enough to survive the change.
Tropical rainforests help maintain global rain and weather patterns. Much of the water that evaporates from the trees returns in the form of rainfall. Removal of the forest can change the natural rainfall patterns.

I will also encounter different types of seasons (unlike here at Philippines). Chaparral is a shrubland or heathland plant community found primarily in the US state of California. It is shaped by a Mediterranean climate (mild, wet winters and hot dry summer) wildlife, featuring summer-drought-tolerant plants with hard sclerophyllous evergreen leaves, as constrasted with the associated soft- leaves, drought- deciduous and scrub community of coastal sage scrub found below the chaparral. In a chaparral you will experience the feeling that you are on top of the mountain while admiring the beauty of what God has made......

I prefer living in TROPICAL RAINFOREST, because the Rainforest Biome nurtures thousands of plants and animals found nowhere else on this planet and provide many of our essentials for life. There are more reasons why I like to live in a Tropical Rainforest:

1. Size and Location
Rainforests cover less than two percent of the Earth's total surface, according to The Nature Conservancy, but they are home to fifty percent of the Earth's plants and animals. This is in part due to the ideal climatic conditions of warmth and moisture for plant growth.

2. Medicine
Tropical rainforests have given us important chemicals to treat or cure several different medical conditions including inflammation, rheumatism, diabetes, muscle tension, surgical complications, malaria, heart conditions, skin diseases, arthritis, glaucoma, cancer and hundreds of other maladies.

3. Thermostat
Rainforests act as the world's thermostat by regulating temperatures and weather patterns, absorbing carbon dioxide from the air, storing the carbon and giving us oxygen. they are one of the world's primary carbon reservoirs and help to stop the emission of greenhouse gases, which can keep a huge amount of carbon from being released into the atmosphere.

4. Food
At least eighty percent of the developed world's diet originated in the tropical rainforest. Its gifts to the world include fruits like avocados, coconuts, figs, oranges, lemons, grapefruit, bananas, guavas, pineapples, mangoes and tomatoes. It has also provided vegetables including corn, potatoes, winter squash and yams; spices like black pepper, cayenne, chocolate, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, sugar cane, tumeric, coffee and vanilla and nuts including Brazil nuts and cashews.

5. Equatorial Climate
The tropical rainforest has a very constant climate and is very wet, having between 1500 and 2500 millimeters of rain each year. They experience rainfall nearly every day and there is no dry season. The tropical rainforest temperature is around 86 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and at night it drops to about 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. There is little-to-no difference between the warmest and coolest months and the relative humidity is high year-round.

6. Layers
Rainforests consist of a system of layers known as the overstory/emergent layer, canopy, understory, and forest floor. These layers affect the amounts of sunlight and rain that reach plants lower in the forest. The overstory receives all-around sunlight. The canopy receives overhead sunlight, as does the understory, but the understory receives less. The forest floor receives very little sunlight at all. The layers are often so thick that it can take 10 minutes for rain to reach the forest floor.

7. Decomposition
Things decompose about 10 times quicker in tropical rainforests than in other biomes. The floor has a thin layer of leaves, seeds or fruits and branches that fall from the trees and it all decomposes fast and new material takes its place.

8. People
Most of the world’s rainforests are populated by indigenous people. These are people who have been living there for thousands of years and live off of the land and depend on the rainforests for survival. Some people live in places that you can get to only by boat. They eat what the rainforests produce and practice shifting cultivation.

9. Plants
About half of the world’s plant species can be found in the rainforest. Because it is warm and it rains the whole year, forests stay green. Trees lose their leaves and immediately grow new ones. The rainforest is the home of many plants: lianas, ferns, orchids and many kinds of tropical trees. Some plants that grow in the tropical rainforest are the rubber tree and palm tree.

10. Animals and Other Species
Fish, reptiles, birds and insects also live in the rainforest and its rivers. Plants and animals need each other to survive within the rainforest system. The insects pollinate flowers which animals get food from, and the seeds from trees are often taken away by other animals and birds and dropped in faraway areas, in which they grow new plants. Some of the more popular animals that live in the tropical rainforest are the toucan, howler monkey, piranha, and gorilla.

I prefer to live in Tropical Rainforest because there is no dry season and it is also referred as a lowland equatorial evergreen rainforest. They also provide vital services like stabilizing climate and absorbing carbon dioxide. We could live with tropical rainforest and that is why rainforest alliance works so hard to protect them. Rainforest are very important because it is not only a place for humans to live it is also made for animals but rainforests are more populated by insects. I want to live in a tropical rainforest because 1st of all nature is very important, 2nd of all its help to reduce global climate changes and 3rd of all it is the home of half of the species of plants and wildlife in the planet and also by absorbing carbon dioxide, the rainforests help deter the greenhouse effect. Rainforest is described as tall, hot and dense forest near the equator and is believed to be the oldest living ecosystems on Earth which gets maximum amount of rainfall. Facts about the rainforest are: Rainforests are the forests that receive high amount of rainfall. You can find rainforests in many countries, not just in South America. They can be found in Alaska and Canada, as well as Asia, Africa and Latin America. Rainforests are found on all of the different continents, except for Antarctica because it is far too cold there for the environment to be conducive. There are two different types of rainforests, and they include both temperate and tropical. The tropical rainforests are the ones that are most commonly found around the world. Rainforests help to regulate the temperatures around the world and the weather patterns as well. A fifth of our fresh water is found in tropical rainforests, the Amazon Basin to be exact. Rainforests help to maintain our supply of drinking water and fresh water, so they are critical in the sustainability of the earth. About 1/4 of natural medicines have been discovered in rainforests. Within four square miles of tropical rainforest, you will find 1500 flowering plant species, 750 types of trees, and many of these plants can be helpful in combating cancer. 70% or more of the plants that are used to treat cancer are found only in the tropical rainforests on the planet. Over 2000 types of plants that you find in the rainforest can be used to help aide in cancer treatment because they have anti cancer properties. The Amazon rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest in the world. Less than one percent of the species of plants in the tropical rainforests have actually been analyzed to determine their value in the world of medicine. Rainforests are threatened each and every day, especially by practices such as agriculture, ranching, logging and mining. There were around 6 million square miles of rainforest in the beginning, but now because of deforestation, there are really only less than half of that still found in the world.

What type of terestrial biome you would most likely to live? Why?

I prefer living in a tropical rainforest.

Since time immemorial, we have been living in a tropical country. We thrived in an environment where seasons range from wet to dry. Thus, vegatation grows significantly and variety of crops yields all-year round. Fruits in tropical countries are amazingly delicious and tasty. Examples of these are mangoes, rambutan, lychee, banana, coconut, pineapple, and a lot more!

When it comes to the climate, the temparature ranges from 18°c to 29°c. It's almost always sunny everyday but when it rains, it rains with a hint of thunderstorm but most of the time, the rain wouldn't last a day. Hence, it wouldn't temper and affect our everyday life.

Another factor is the magnificent landscapes. Tropical countries are surrounded by beautiful picture-perfect beaches. Jungles can also be found here and are perfect for extreme sports like hiking, cave-diving, and trekking. Due to these tremendous land and water forms, different kinds of animals survive and thrive in these areas.

The last but not least are the people. People (like us) in the tropical countries are known to be the friendliest and warmest. Everybody is very welcoming and hospitable to others. We love to love, laugh, and celebrate!

How do you address the problem encountered in this Biome?
I believe that no matter what type of biome a person is in, climate change is the biggest problem that should be faced and solved. Climate change affects everyone everywhere in the world. The primary cause is the humans' alteration of the nature that lead to Earth's destruction. For the tropical rainforests alone, there is a massive decrease of the total area from the initial 15% to now 6%.

Deforestation is one way of destroying the environment. As population increases, the demand for land and timber also increases. Due to this, people cut trees from the forests and make way for a "greater civilization". Once the area is clear, they will settle there, build houses and massive industrial buildings, and enventually, will crave for bigger and massive lands. And the cycle goes on. The problem is, they will never recover what has been destroyed. This lead to more negative impacts such as massive flooding, increase of temparature, more global carbon emissions, extinction of animals, and environmental imbalance.

But with the awakening of people against climate change, they are now making necessary measures to solve this problem spearheaded by both national and international groups. I have been inspired by their dedication towards climate change advocacies. As a youth, I am responsible of supporting this in my own little way. WALK THE TALK is my rule. If they say reduce, reuse, recycle, I shall do it. If they say observe proper disposal, I shall do it. If my school or barangay mandates me to join tree-planting activities, I will actively join. If they ban plastic materials like straws, I shall not use it and shall advocate it e.g. on my social media. With the wide usage of technology, social media can be a great platform for these advocacies. Hence, I shall use it wisely and effectively. One post may bear tremendous results.

These forests are also known as broad-leaf forests because the trees have wide, flat leaves. Temperate deciduous forests lie in the mid-latitude areas of the Earth, between the Arctic poles and the tropics. These biomes are exposed to warm and cold air masses, causing them to have four seasons: winter, spring, summer and fall. As winter approaches and daylight decreases, the production of chlorophyll in the leaves slows and eventually stops, revealing the bright red, yellow and orange colors we associate with fall.
I will address the problem in the temperate deciduous forest by:
