Sewing also included - even though it wasn't using sewing machine.

Feeling(s) & thought(s)
* It was exciting seeing the participant are now aware about reusable pads. I hope reusable pads are spread widely for sustainability of our earth.

Decision making
* When there's a problem regarding the project, I would give some suggestion on how to solve it. Such as when there's not enough manpower to come & teach about reusable pads. After there's no respond when asked in the group, we would ask some of the volunteer that we know personally if they could join us or not. We would also ask if they are facing any problem that we could help in.

Time management
* As there are needs to meet physically to plan for the project, then I would make time for it. Otherwise we had discussion virtually using WhatsApp group that was set up for the project. There is no fixed schedule, so I had a quit flexible timing in making sure my part was done.

Plan next week
* The final week is the closing ceremony where I am the person in-charged. Hence, I have to prepare & plan for it.

Third Week of Volunteering Activities in temple

1. Your name, matric number, date
Pavithra a/p Rajasegaran
A173719
7/8/2022

2. Your progress so far
Throughout Week 3, I would start the day by cleaning inside and outside of the temple by sweeping and mopping all the areas including the kitchen. In the afternoon, I plucked flowers to prepare for the event in the evening. I have also conducted English lesson class for Standard 6 students. On Thursday and Friday, I cleaned and organized the items in the storeroom by arranging the kitchen utensils and keeping them in the proper place. I wiped down the refrigerator and cupboards and threw away some expired food items. I chose kitchen area and equipment this week to ensure the environment is free from pests and to maintain a clean food preparation for people that visit the temple.

3. Your feelings and thoughts
It gave me a sense of accomplishment after I thoroughly cleaned the kitchen area. Now, it looks more tidy and less likely to attract rodents or insects compared to before this. Also, I felt very satisfied to be able to help the children with their homework despite having a busy schedule of cleaning tasks throughout the week.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
Even though I had a list of activities to be done for the week, one situation that I had to apply the decision making skill was when I was expected to do extra work for the temple committees such as preparing the mat and arranging the silver pots which were not on the list. It was a bit challenging for me because I have already planned my schedule accordingly. Therefore, I had to sacrifice 15 minutes of my lunch hour every day to do those requested work and at the same time, I made sure the planned tasks would be done based on the timeline.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
Throughout this EP journey, I would complete the main activities in the daytime, especially the cleaning tasks to help the committees to prepare for their event in the evening. I have also adjusted my schedule to teach the children after finishing these activities, so that tasks in the daytime will not overlap with their classes. This way I was able to manage my time efficiently by dividing the activities that need to be done in the morning and evening respectively.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)
In Week 4, I will focus the cleaning activities at areas behind the temple and the toilet. I have also planned to learn on how to calculate and document the income for temple’s committee from the Treasurer after organizing every event to get some knowledge on accounts. Besides, I will take part in a program organised by them that distributes clothes and other essential items such as flour, oil, rice to underprivileged family.

Loh Ying Shuen A174177

7 August 2022

My Progress So Far

Things are going very well for my 3rd week. I am able to handle more patients on my own and understand how to deal with their requests. I am also more comfortable with daily tasks and dealing with the patients there. I am also getting the hang of dealing with their family members and answering questions professionally. Other than just doing the tasks, I am also more aware of the details, such as any presence of new bruises or any blood spots in the diapers, any extra food or drinks that they have taken. These are the details that makes the difference between just completing tasks and really taking care of the patients.

My Feelings And Thoughts

I am getting more attached to the people there as time pass by. Not only to the patients there but also the staffs and nurses at the nursing home. We will always find chances to make jokes and funny moments everyday out of the smallest things. I will definitely miss them when I have finish the posting. Other than that, the work itself are still physically draining although said that things are getting easy, but we are still dealing with big size human every day.

How Did I Learn And Apply The Skill Of Decision Making In My EP Journey?

Smart decision making is necessary in this posting. I am needed to decide when and who to handle first depending on day to day situation. The patient’s health condition, trips to the doctors, ways of cleaning up all play a part in my decision making. I learnt how to make the correct decision by observing the other experienced nurses do their job and learn the rationale behind them. Other than day to day decisions, there are also decision making during emergencies, which I am still lack in experience and maturity.

How Did I Manage My Time Throughout This EP Journey?

My daily schedule is more or less the same, thus it is easy to manage my time. I have learnt to adjust my time according to the patient’s daily schedule. Rest and have lunch break when patients are sleeping. We also take shifts among staffs for our lunch to make sure there is always somebody to keep an eye on the patients. Since there is no theory in the posting, thus no extra time is needed for self-learning. I learn and execute the techniques on the spot.

My Plan For Next Week (Week 4)

For the last week, my plan is just to enjoy the time left in the posting. Make it enjoyable and do the best I can to help out. Create a memorable last week for myself and also the people at the nursing home.

The activities I did during this week are food packaging and kitchen distribution, medication sorting and counting and preparing food for street distribution on Saturday. The relationship between us and Ms Maya (person-in-charge) also became closer as we also had lunch together, had a good conversation every day we volunteered.

3. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?

I learned and applied the skill of decision making when we need to decide who is gonna do which work by discussion and voting among ourselves. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

I managed my time throughout this EP journey by planning everything early and making a backup plan. Your progress so far

During this third week, I found that our EP program is getting smoother. For this week, our team's shift was from Monday to Wednesday. As usual, our work scope was packaging the food for the lunch of KSK clients, distributing the food from the counter of KSK from 12 pm- 1 pm, and I also did one extra shift on Saturday to help Team A with the street distribution. On top of that, we also have additional tasks which were folding the cloth, blankets, towels, and shoes that had been donated to the KSK and sorting them according to their sizes. Besides that, we also had the opportunity to help scoop the Durian flavored ice cream that has been sponsored by the Inside Scoop company. Last but not least, we also manage to meet and make friends with some volunteers from other universities (International students) and regular volunteers of the KSK.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

I felt glad as our program progress are good and smooth as it was planned and we did not encounter any problems during the program.
On top of that, I also felt a little bit sad because we are already on our third week and next week will be our last week. When our SV said that, the time has passed so fast and we will be ending our volunteer program soon, I felt a bit down but it is okay because she also welcomes us to come whenever we have free time.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision-making in your EP journey?

I learned that the decision-making on how to divide the task among ourselves was very important to make sure that our task will go smoothly and will be done in a short period even though the workload is quite heavy. To do that, we always have a good discussion among us to make sure everyone gets the chance to get the experience work on the job.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

Managing my time throughout this EP journey is quite challenging because we use public transport to went to the KSK. Hence, we need to plan our journey wisely. As an example, we will make sure we head to the MRT Taman Midah one hour early and sometimes earlier when it was raining to make sure we can get to KSK by 10.30 am. Other than that I think it was quite easy to manage my time to do the job, as I have my friends and we do our job together ans also and went back together.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

My plan for next week which is our last week in this elective posting is that I want to give my best to help the KSK serve their clients and make a lot of precious memories together. Upon arrival, I already knew what to do without waiting for instruction from the supervisor. The task for the third week was similar to the previous two weeks, which was packing the food and distributing the food from the kitchen. There was also an extra task for this week, which was folding the clothes, towels, pants, and shoes that were donated to the KSK and classifying them according to size. Besides, Inside Scoop sponsored Durian ice cream to be distributed to the homeless, which allowed me to learn how to scoop the ice cream like they did at the shop, as a representative from Inside Scoop came to guide us and take pictures.

1. Your name, matric number, date
SHARIFAH SHALYNA WAFA BINTI SYED ROSELY WAFFA (A178382)
Date : 4/8/2022-6/8/2022

2. Your progress so far
For this third week, it was fun and hetic because we were assigned with new work and also some unexpected situation happen. For this week my team were scheduled on Thursday until Saturday, for Thursday we still work on food preparation with 2 volunteer from University Malaya (UM) and there is also new sponsor from Inside Scoop company that give ice-cream for us to serve the KSK client. Next, on Friday we were assigned to sort and count medication but some unexpected situation happen when there was lack of volunteer help in kitchen distribution so my team have to divide into 2 team, which 2 person help in kitchen and 1 person which is me have to sort and count medication. After my teammates done with kitchen distribution, they help me with sorting and counting medication until around 5 pm. Lastly, on Saturday, we work on preparation for street distribution with the help of 2 volunteer from outsiders.

3. Your feelings and thoughts
I felt happy and a bit chaos when there is unexpected situation happen. It was a great experience when we have to handle the situation in a short period of time.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
For me the skill of decision making was applied to me when the situation where we have to divide our team to do different task. It was a bit hard for me when I have to sort and count medication alone at first because there were a lot of new medication that I have to sort base on their types and count it for data collection. So after a quick discussion and voting between me and my teammates, we agreed to divide our team into two. We decided to do the sorting and counting works together after the first team done with their kitchen distribution to ensure that we can work smoothly.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
For me, I manage my time wisely by planning early to avoid procrastination. As I have specific time in my schedule, thus it was easy for me to manage my time wisely. For example, I will woke up at 8.30 am and took MRT at 9.30 am in order to come work early and I have to be discipline to follow my time planning. Next, if there is a lot of work to do, we will try to work effectively such as helping each other and have good teamwork skills to ensure we can complete the task according to the given time.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)
My plan for next week is to be happy, enjoy, create more memorable memory and it's gonna be a gloomy week for us as it will be our last week on this elective posting. Also we are planning to give present to our supervisor and also admin that always teach and help us a lot.

Thank you.

Your progress so far

So far for my 3rd week of EP, it was overall fun although we had a few hiccups. This week, my team was scheduled from Thursday till Saturday. On Thursday as like before, we did the kitchen distribution with volunteers from University Malaya. Recently, KSK just received a new sponsor from Inside Scoop and we have been giving the clients ice cream with their meals. It made me happy that the clients were in bliss when receiving the ice cream and some of them came back for seconds. On Friday, we managed to do a different job which was to sort and count the stocks for the medication. It took a while to sort it but we got the hang of it and cleaned up all the medication. Lastly, on Saturday we did preparation for the street distribution and we managed to do the work fast and efficiently. We settled everything before the other volunteers picked up the stuff.

3. Your feelings and thoughts

I am grateful for the relationship that I have built with the KSK staff especially our supervisor Ms. Maya. There were ups and downs during our volunteering but overall, we managed to handle the problem.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision-making in your EP journey?

For the past three weeks, there was a lot of decision-making to be done as it helps make the work move smoothly. For instance, this week, we had to divide among ourselves who would do the kitchen distribution and count the stocks for the medication. In the end, two of us went to distribute the food and one of us continued counting the stocks. After distributing the food, we quickly went up to help our other teammate finish the job.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?

I managed my time by planning out the schedule for the day. I have to be at KSK by a specific time which is 10.30 am. I usually estimate the time to get there as I have to drive to the MRT station at Taman Midah from college. Therefore, I will leave at around 9.30 am to make sure I arrive at KSK on time.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

My plan is to give it my all during this last week. I hope to create one last memorable memory with my friends as well with the KSK staff and the other volunteers.

1.YAKSHINY A/P SELVA,A175038,31/7-7/8

2.So far, I have completed the study guide for upcoming Reading Programme. The study guide was created so that the volunteer teachers are able to follow the guide to teach students of Standard 4 to Standard 6. I am still promoting via social media about the Mental Wellness Programme as we are still lacking of students and we had to postpone the programme.

3. I am very happy as I am able to be involved with the management in planning the programme of Reading Programme which is a highlight of this association. I used to be a student in this programme years ago so its a nostalgic moment for me

4. I learnt that to make a decision, we must always think about the consequences and make a wise decision. We are only able to possess this skill with time and experience. I learnt this skill via this EP posting. For instance, deciding the objectives for each students of different year. I must always keep in mind on their year and English efficiency before deciding on a syllabus

5. I manage my time wisely by planning the day beforehand. I make sure I have time for my family, complete all the task given by my supervisor and for myself. I will always plan ahead so that I will not miss anything.

6. My plan for next week will be creating a poster for Reading Programme, having a short survey with the parents on their idea on Reading Programme and academic review on the syllabus for the Programme.

Japanese Language

1. Your name, matric number, date
Mohammad Ali Zuhdi bin Azman
A175041
7th August 2022

2. Your progress so far
Hi everyone, my elective posting has been going smoothly so far. This week, i learnt many new things. I spent most of my time memorising new kanji characters and practice writing them correctly. However i do need some time to memorise on how to read them tho. Since kanji were originally chinese characters, they can be read either in On-yomi (Chinese readings) or Kun-yomi (Japanese readings). It can be difficult to know which one to use at first but i believe continuous learning and practice will help me distinguish them.

3. Your feelings and thoughts
In my opinion, learning kanji is the most challenging part for a Japanese beginner. I was overwhelmed looking at all the complex kanji characters and honestly makes me wanna give up😂. However, i tried to dive in slowly, starting from the most simple kanji characters and gradually increase the level. As i learnt more, i found out that kanji sure is hard but not as i expected it to be. Some kanjis are pictograms which are illustrated based on real life objects. For example the kanji for tree(木) does look like a tree with roots beneath it. I found this very interesting as i initially thought the characters are just some random strokes and lines. Learning kanji become more fun because i can let my imagination runs and try looking at it from another perspective.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
Learning and practicing Japanese Language requires decision-making skill. For example, i need to decide whether to use the polite form or non-polite form when talking to someone. Deciding which type of speech to use is very crucial in everyday communication as it determine how close am i to that person and may looks rude if i use it in a wrong situation or place.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
Learning Japanese Language via online course is relaxing as i don’t need to stick to a specific timetable and can learn at my own pace. I didn’t really plan my schedule but i do set a goal in mind on what i want to learn that day. I also limit my study to 2 hours per session because i know my brain can’t focus anymore after that XD. It is important to take a break during a session to keep awake and energised.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)

I plan to continue learning grammar and at the same time keep practicing all the vocabulary i have learnt so far.

1. Your name, matric number, date
Ahmad Nabil Sufi Bin Che Musa
A173729
6/8/2022

2. Your progress so far
i managed to learn how to make "Nasi Goreng kampung" just like plan to do for this week. Other than that, i managed to memorize all the food prices, therefore i able to calculate without referring to the menu. I am used to the daily routine pre, intra and post working session. here are some pictures depicting some food i managed to prepare.

3. Your feelings and thoughts
It was good experience since the knowledge i gained here will be used in the long term where i can make the fried rice on my own without having to buy them and wasting money. I am overjoyed since i managed to get the recipe done correctly.

4. How did you learn and apply the skill of decision making in your EP journey?
well since there are a lot of miscommunication in along the way, I had to speak up clearly and suggest systematically on how to deal with the wrong orders. For example, there was one time i received two similars order from my colleague. therefore i ask her to reconfirmed it again with the customers. it turned out that the two orders were the same redundant order. Had it not been confirmed, we would make the same food and it will be wasted. Since i also adapted to the working system, that made me more experts than few of my new colleagues. therefore i guided them to how the working process goes on and what is their tasks respectively.

5. How did you manage your time throughout this EP journey?
to be honest, timing is everything in this job, not a second should be wasted since i always occupied with multiple task to do till the end of the day. therefore, whenever i have free time, i take the opportunity to rest, have a brief lunch, perform my prayers since we wouldnt know when will the premise get crowded with loads of customers and their orders.

6. Your plan for next week (Week 4)
since i heard the new workers will be instated, therefore i have to prepare guiding them regarding their task. i need to delegate their task meticulously so the working system maintains balance and systematic
