Montesquieu’s masterpiece was the spirit of the laws, he built upon the writings of John Locke, He emphasized limited government powers through essential checks in order to protect the liberty of the people. He says in a state there are three sorts of powers, by the first the Legislative makes laws, by the second the executive makes peace of war, sends embassies, establishes security, and prevents invasions, and the last will be called the power of judging. His point is separation of powers so no one abuses their powers and they can be divided in each part.

The United States Government has developed centuries of changing thought.
There are eight influences that made our government today influenced us by stating all men were created equal, our declaration of independence gave the English the right to seperatefrom England because England was getting ruled by a king that took their rights, made taxes highly expensive, and gave them unfair treatment. These influences also gave us the idea the right to stand up and protest for ourselves, and have limited power so we wouldn't be in danger from our founding fathers. We wouldn't have any laws in place if the English didn't influence us, we wouldnt have jails for the criminals of our country, we wouldnt have any laws to protect us from a bad society.
