         <title>The Domus.</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Domus was the Roman citizen’s typical house and was composed by five areas.&nbsp;<br>The first area was called “vestibulum” and was the hall of the house. The second one was the “atrium”, a mid-term room where the family life took place as a living room; in the middle of the room there was the “impluvium”, a tub for connecting rainwater by a open part of the roof. On each side of the atrium there where small bedrooms called “cubicula”.          <title>THE ROMAN CLOTHES</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Roman clothes were constituted by two types of garments:"<strong><em><mark>indumenta</mark></em></strong>"were used the day and at night,while the"<strong><em><mark>amictus</mark></em></strong>" were used during the day.<br>In Roman times"<strong><em><mark>subligar</mark></em></strong>"constituted the underwear. It was a kind of linen thong knotted around the waist to bandage the intimate parts.<br>The woman wore a kind of bra,a leather or tissue soft/sash (<strong><em><mark>strophiuti or mamiliare).</mark></em></strong><br>In addition the men's wear were characterized by a basilar tunic,"<strong><em><mark>subucula</mark></em></strong>", a kind of sleeveless knee lenght gown.<br>The "<strong><em><mark>toga</mark></em></strong>",un ample mantle that was put on around the body leaving the right arm free,was positioned above the gown.<br>It was the must important garment to the romans citizens  .It couldn't be worn by foreigners,slave and liberti.<br><strong><em><mark>"Stola"</mark></em></strong>,a short sleeve dress ,reverting to the groundwith elegant folds and stopped in the waist by a belt (<strong><em><mark>cingulum</mark></em></strong>),was added to the tunic.<br>When the women went out they wore a mantle (<strong><em><mark>palla</mark></em></strong>) with wich they could cover the hids.<br>The exterior male tunic was called "<strong><em><mark>tunica exterior</mark></em></strong>",that female"<strong><em><mark>supparum</mark></em></strong>".<br>The superior borders of these tunics were closed by some pins,(<strong><em><mark>fibule or camme</mark></em></strong>).<br>The favourite materials for the garments were mainly linen,wool,but for the rich women also delicate cottons and silk.<br>There were numerous types of shoes: open-toed shoes,closed shoes,with leather stripes or with small heels (<strong><em><mark>caligae</mark></em></strong>)<br><br>Gruppo:Francesca Milazzo,Irene Viola,Valeria Mafara,Federica Cataldo,Chiara Lo Nardo.</div>]]></description>

         <title>New text about Roman amusement</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Romans used to spend most of the time into the baths, fulcrum of worldly life. At the beginning they were supposed to dive into the calidarium, a bathtub filled with hot water, then to walk in the tepidarium to get used to the temperature rush and, at the end they plunged in the frigidarium, a bathtub full of cold water.<br>Romans frequented amphitheatres: large, oval shaped arenas, kind of old days stadium, encircled by bleachers like the Colosseum.<br>They went there to see bloody shows of gladiators or the blander racing wagons.&nbsp;<br>During gladiators fights there used&nbsp; to introduce wild animals, like the lion, who they kept fasting to make them ferocious.<br>Gladiators usually were slaves, so they were there against their will. In this places they brutally died for the enjoying of aristocratic people.<br>Convivial moments for rich people in the ancient Rome were banquets. There, they had dinner together, sometimes listening to a musical accompaniment. On the table it couldn’t absolutely lack wine.          <title>New text about Roman diet</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The ancient diet Mediterranean of Romans was based on cereals, vegetables, olive oil, wine seafood, cheese, eggs, meat and many types of fruit. </div><div>They usually ate in a taberna, a place like a current restaurant where citizens could drink wine or eat a good meal. Other popular places, where the romans ate, were: the thermopolium (Greek word) or popina (latin work) and wine’s shop. </div><div>Romans started their day whit a breakfast based on bread with oil and salt, eggs and fruit.  </div><div>The citizens sometimes went to popina at lunch to eat a nutritious meal (prandium) based on eggs, olive, cheese, fish, onions, meat or chicken , or a light meal (ientaculum)  that was quick . </div><div>Then they went to wine’s shop for drink hot wine or “piperatum” made with pepper, honey, wine and hot water. </div><div>Dinner was different between rich people and pour people. Dinner of rich people was plentiful feast with fish,meat and dessert served by maids while pour people ate chickpeas, oil and vegetables.</div><div>Food whit sauces, herbs, and exotic spices was an other important element about Roman’s diet. </div><div>The romans were also adept at processing and conserving their food using a specific techniques. <br><br>Gruppo composto da: Anna Cancelliere, Alice Niosi, Iolanda Lo Verde, Silvia Gioè, Giuliana Culmone e Federica Calà</div>]]></description>
