         <description><![CDATA[<div>The colors of the Nicaraguan flag originate from the flag of the former federation of the United Provinces of Central America. The two blue stripes represented the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea ; while white symbolizes peace. A more modern interpretation indicates that the color blue symbolizes justice and loyalty.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Nicaragua, which got its name from the chief of one of the Indian tribes at the time of the Spanish Conquest. It was first settled by the Spanish in 1522. The country won independence in 1838. The Bryan-Chamorro Treaty of 1916  gave the U.S. an option on a canal route through Nicaragua and naval bases. U.S. Marines were sent again to quell disorder after the 1924 elections. A guerrilla leader, Gen. César Augusto Sandino, fought the U.S. troops from 1927 until their withdrawal in 1933.</div>]]></description>

Nicaragua is known as the Land of Lakes and Volcanoes for its 50 volcanoes, of which 7 are active, and its famous Lake Nicaragua, the only sweet-water lake known to have sharks in the world. Most of these volcanoes are very interactive and have lots of tourist attractions. Visitors have the ability to climb active and dormant volcanoes, peek over into the crater of a volcano and swim in the crater lakes.</div>]]></description>
