9th Grade ESL Classroom (Intensive Reading)

I think padlet is a useful tool that could be implemented in a 9th grade ESL reading classroom for ESL students.

For example, if the students have reading assignments, they could make columns for each of the books that they are reading (I assume that while some may have similar reading levels, most of the students have different levels of reading). For students reading the same book, they could break up their columns by chapter and attach videos or other articles that relate to the reading. The students can view each other's books and comment on the different attachments that helped them better understand the text.

Rethinking the Roles of Teachers

Teachers are expected "to be adept at a variety of technology-based and other approaches for content delivery, learner support, and assessment" (p.30). In addition to this, teachers are also teaching students to be global citizens and work to address some of the social factors that affect student learning.

However, while the roles of teachers are continually expanding and changing, not all teachers are equipped with the knowledge or background to use instructional technology effectively.

I think that this is starting to change as educators and administration are realizing the importance of having technological resources in the classroom.
