In Sections 3 & 4, it becomes apparent that Elie is losing faith in himself, in his fellow man, and in God. He shows this through his thoughts and actions, and in his writing. Using examples from Sections 3 & 4, explore the evidence that Elie has begun to lose faith in everything around him. Use textual evidence.

"As for me, I had ceased to pray. I concurred with Job! I was not denying His existence, but I doubted His absolute justice." (Page 45 paragraph 8)
In this excerpt Wiesel hasn't completely lost his faith but he's starting to question god's ways and what god is doing.

"For the first time, I felt anger rising within me. Why should I sanctify His name? The Almighty, the eternal and terrible Master of the Universe, chose to be silent. What was there to thank Him for? (33) Elie is completely questioning whether his god actually deserves thanking. I had watched and kept silent.’ (39)

In this excerpt Elie has lost his faith in humanity and how cruel they can be. Just a week ago he would have definitely reacted different if someone had struck his father, but now just after a week of strenuous labor he hadn't even shown a bit of concern for his father.
