It also includes a portion of cane lands within the most southern part. It is interesting to note that the lot numbers only go up to 15. Wether this signifies the amount of awarded lands given out or the amount of ʻohanaʻs in the area ahead of time that assumed ownership I feel it is something to note.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>"In 1853, the largest number of foreigners had settled on the islands of Oahu and Kauai, but there were also isolated districts in both, where native culture was able to survive to a considerable degree. Although the population of Honolulu district was onetenth foreign, across the Pali were two districts of 4,054 natives, with only 1 percent foreigners. In the Waimea district of Kauai— remote from the major ports—were 30 percent of the native population and only 7 percent of the foreign population of the entire island."</div>]]></description>
