<title>I heard someone not like the use of the word &#39;girl&#39; as it is quite demeaning. Same with &#39;boy&#39;. I am reading the beauty myth and it talks about how when women got into the workforce, they were made to feel they had to look beautiful to be successful. </title>

<title>I spoke to a disabled person today to ask whether they prefer to be called &#39;a person with a disability&#39; or a &#39;disabled person&#39;. They said the latter as the former made it sound like having a disability is an issue. </title>

<title>When I ran reverse mentoring programs, some mentors preferred to be called &#39;People of Colour&#39; or &#39;Minority ethnic&#39; but ultimately they said its the context in which the words are used that matters to them. </title>

People get things wrong all the time and it's up to us as to whether we choose to correct them or not.
