I realized how meaningful communication, comprehension, and participation are in this rotation. I was well aware that various challenges tested the two groups, whether internally or externally. But in this rotation, I saw how the groups managed to overcome and go through it despite the circumstances. I can somewhat say we can now definitely handle pressure in various ways as we are trained differently this time- more complex, more challenging, and more pressure. After everything, I'm always amazed at how strong I can be and even how I handle things. As a human, it is customary to doubt oneself often, but that's when the magic appears as you slowly realize that you can do anything when you put your mind to it. I definitely doubted myself. I was afraid that I would not become an efficient nurse handling psychiatric patients, which would hurt me the most because I've always wanted to learn from this rotation. Despite all that, I pushed through, and I did the best I could do now. Also, I'll always put in mind all the learnings I have in this rotation and enhance it through time and as I further my journey in the medical field. All the activities, despite their flaws, were all a success. It may not always be perfect but what's important is we strive to do our best from what we know now. It's vital that we were present and we faced it. I want to thank everyone, group 3, group 4, and the CIs that guided us throughout the activity. All of them helped make me learn and realize a lot of things. I built a healthy relationship with my groupmates which I would want to treasure the most as we go through this Nursing journey together.

The 3 days experience we had was really great and fulfilling even though we have to wake up early. Meeting the clients was a fresh experience for me and it game me new perspective about people like them. Although it was short, I will never be able to forget about it. I am so proud of my groupmates as well as of the group 4 who were with us throughout that virtual experience and I am also thankful to the clients for actively participating.

This week's rotation was indeed challenging and hard. I had to drink coffee which I am not used to, for three days straight, and only had 2 hours of sleep. It was challenging because I had to maintain my composure and energy in front of the clients since I led the program even though I was so tired and had personal problems within me. The preparation of the program itself was the most challenging, for we had to do the concept papers, structured invites, the scripts, and the PowerPoint presentations. We also had to do some run-throughs late at night to ensure everything would go according to plan. However, seeing the clients appreciate our efforts, smiles, participation, and laughs during our program was satisfying. The feedback and seeing my groupmates working so hard were enough for me to continue fighting hard and reach our same goals of giving smiles to our clients. Hence, I am beyond grateful for this experience. I believe we all can survive this. - Sheena

It was exhausting due to the extensive planning required to create a flawless program and provide a memorable three-day experience for the audience.

This week's rotation with real patients was very difficult and stressful for me. In all honesty, I was extremely worried and anxious how this rotation will go because this is our very first time to encounter real patients ever since we were in first year of nursing. However, as the program and our days with the patients passed by, I felt this sense of relief as well as happiness inside me. Not only did I learn lessons that will be applicable in my medical career but I also learned life lessons from our patients. They inspired me to become a better medical professional in the future and after the encounter, I realized how nice it would have been to meet various patients when we were in second year. Again, there were a lot of hardships and challenges along the way but with the help of every member of both groups, our clinical instructors, the staffs of the center, and the patients themselves, we were able to push through and experience something that we will remember for a long time. With this, I can say that we grew one step closer to reaching our goal to become excellent medical professionals in the future.

Vanarha Marie M. Tago-on

Psychiatric nursing was indeed very tiring. I had to sleep late at night to fulfill all the the needed requirement. I had to sacrifice some activities in my life to be more focused. Moreover, the planning of the program was very exhausting, I felt like all my ideas were squeezed of me, what made it more tiring is the fact that we were the very first group to perform this program with real psychiatric patients. It felt like our group was the experimental rat. However, it was very fulfilling as I really think that our performance was a good start for the whole third year BSN students. Moreover, the kind words expressed by the patients towards us made me more fulfilled and happy as they were able to see our efforts in engaging with them. What made me more happy is that this rotation really taught me a lot of lesson especially that it came from our patients. They taught me that no matter what happens in life, there is still a chance for healing and that everything happens for a reason. Nevertheless, I was really inspired by my patients to do and give more as a nurse in the future.

Jay Ferdinand T. Tabanao

The three-day virtual psychiatric nursing experience was significant for me. However, the preparation wasn't easy, as we had to revise various things to provide a program or activity that was beneficial to them yet fun. Still, they were my first patients, making it highly memorable. I realized a lot of things and learned various life lessons from everyone. I've witnessed how the experience made our group stronger and closer. I learned from the patients how important peace within oneself is, and I'm genuinely happy for them to impart that to us. The training was hard, but I know for sure there's a lot of learning that came with it. I was so grateful that the patients appreciated and enjoyed all the work and activities. Most significantly, the trust they've given us for them to open up about themselves and their experiences. Lastly, I would like to thank all of the clinical instructors that made this experience possible. It was indeed an extraordinary experience for us all.

Lai

I feel so blessed for the opportunity to engage with actual patients. It may be just in the form of virtual and just lasted for three days, but the memories, learnings, and friendship that we got from this experience are something that I can carry with me forever. My heart is just so full, knowing that all our efforts and sleepless nights did not go to waste. Hearing the appreciation from our patients and Sir Argel, we know that we were able to put up a good program for our patients despite all the challenges we've encountered. More importantly, this experience made me realize that we all have a story to tell and should be given a second chance to become better in life. It also inspired me to do better in my studies to serve such people with excellent service when I become a nurse someday. Hopefully, we can engage again with actual patients by next semester, but this time, in person already.

- Jillian Uy

Despite the difficulty, I felt so blessed because I have given the chance to see and interact with patients the same as them. I am happy for them that even if they have committed mistakes, they still have the courage to change, thinking not only for the people around them but most especially for themselves. Finding hope with their lives and praying for their healing. I can see in their faces how thankful they are that they met another set of friends. Likewise, I am also very thankful that they became my first patients and they became part of nursing journey. Moreover, in terms of the program, I am happy because it went well, the two groups sacrifices had really paid off.

Indeed smile and laughter are both contagious. The smiles and laughter shared in the past three days of our online exposure are a blessing for me and were one of the reasons I should do my best in this task. I have developed a more profound sense of being empathetic to others because I can feel the struggle of being under pressure in the sense that it keeps holding me back from being at my best. These people have the will to change, and as I can see, this will is very powerful in terms of growth. Also, having someone/something to be the reason for their change/growth is one of the contributing factors for them to submit to change even if it means consecutive struggles. Hence, I realize we need a reason to ignite our will and pursue change despite the pressure and the struggle. And for this, I have reflected and realized that the reason why I still pursue nursing despite the pressure and the struggles is that I want a better future for myself and my family.

-Kim Chandani Resgonia

Everything for which we worked so hard was rewarded. Because that was our first exposure, we remember that event deeply. The NPI, where we were given the chance to get to know them and converse with them, was the most delightful part of the event. As if it were a friend, the more we knew what they were going through.

Psychiatric nursing was quite exhausting. I felt as if all of my thoughts were being squeezed out of me, and it was made even more exhausting. But all of it was worth it, I'm delighted and grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Even though we had to get up early every day for three days, the experience was fantastic and gratifying. Meeting the clients was a novel experience for me, and it provided me with new insight into people like them. It also taught me that hard effort pays off. This rotation taught me a lot of things, like determination, discipline, and the importance of looking on the bright side despite the hurdles.

- Ram.

My experience was very fulfilling since it was my first time meeting real patients since I was first year. I am really looking forward for more experiences since it will help me in the future when I become a nurse. I was also touched by the patients when they enjoyed my dance videos. Seeing them have fun while dancing really means a lot to me.

-Angelo Santos

The three days experienced we had with JJVBMC clients was a blast. The need to wake up early around 5:30am to have our morning circle, the preparations, and changes during the program was very tiring. It was not that easy because there are lot of changes due to internet connection but we are able to adapt with those changes. And, despite those tiring days, it was very worth it. In addition, the talking moments we had with the clients was the highlight of my three days exposure. I was given the opportunity to know, listen, and talk to them and honestly, I was touched with their stories and I am very proud to each one of them for trying their best to heal and recover for themselves and their families. Overall, it was an unforgettable exposure we had.
-Christine
