I thought at first the cover is showing black women as they should be represented as but i think the message that came across was not very amusing to the public. What's striking about this cover is the bold blue font set behind the models, while outlining them as a group but not as clear individuals with their own individuals. Them only wearing black gives a sense of importance also to this issue. I also think that Vogue themselves wanted to prove that we are living in a more accepting progressive society, yes our society is slowly progressing past its standard beauty norms and expectations but it's not quite where it should be yet. This could also be Vogue participating in a false narrative of showcasing black women on the cover to just gain more followers or praise out of this. The question is yes the representation is there but will it be consistent? I think the hair and makeup could've gone in a completely different direction .The models could've gotten their hair done to fit the message of the cover and I also feel they could've done makeup that complimented each models features. I think a little more joy could've been shown or even a natural interaction between the women.
