Since learning our main focus of the brief is identity, I have decided I want to create a piece around the social identity of the female gender. This is because I believe I can be quite fluid with my work allowing me to touch upon other resistance and project identity as well as it being a viable topic for me to work with surrounding the current COVID-19 rules and restrictions.

Identity stands as an umbrella term for me. It can act as a host for a collection or community of people ie, social identites such as genders, age and religion. In comparison, it also represents our own indivualities and identities which are personal to us. Therefore, to me identity is a fluid term with more than one meaning. Words I relate to identity are society, stereotypes, persona, personal, me, you, us, looks, background and demeanour.

Photoshop has been key for me to create my final images. I definitely wanted to feature Photoshop on my images since it relates to filtering and my photo book. Photoshop was crucial for some images not only to create desired effects like the one below but also because they had background that needed to be removed.

After thinking up my concept of the physical image placed on the face, I discovered Amak Mahmoodian already has a collection of photos with a very similar theme to mine through a discussion with my photography tutor. After I learn't this, I researched their work to see how I could incorporate any elements into my own with my own twist.
