"Workplace violence frequency was observed in the cumulative total of 10821 healthcare workers at 1.2%. In terms of workplace violence types, 71.9% were verbal and 28.1% were physical. In terms of exposure to workplace violence, doctors accounted for 62.3%, nurses for 20%, and medical secretaries for 7.4%."

People in the healthcare work force take advantage of the power they have over the elderly. It has been reported that "workplace violence. 37.1% were not prosecuted, 55.5% were under investigation, 4.4% were accepted indictments, and 3.0% were punished by a judicial fine." These studies show a large percentage of cases that were proven to be mistreatment got away with it.

Holding the companies and the workers accountable

The healthcare system is aware of there mistreatment the the elderly and the sick or poor. Ways that we can stop there main stream spread of this corrupt system is removing the ESI affecting your coverage and make your healthcare depend on your condition rather then what's in your bank account. another way this can be reduced is having aids be on a more strict schedule instead of manger checking off that the healthcare aid has done what the person has helped with the aid would have to be approved to leave when the patient signs with the agreeing that the needs of that day are met.
