I chose to use the 3rd grade benchmark for my fourth grade students because it is acceptable based on their levels. I chose to use DIBELS instead of mClass, because it is free and has higher reliability and validity. mClass costs about $20 per studnet. DIBELS has high reliability based on convincing evidence, while mClass is only based on Disaggregated data.

NWF is seen as a “pure” measure of the alphabetic principle, because vocabulary and sight word knowledge cannot play a role in recognizing nonsense words. This screener is reliable and has somewhat reliable.
