Students need support with the concept of subtraction. Using the blocks allows students to understand that we are renaming the number when we regroup. It helps students understand that our math is base ten. Once they learn to regroup tens, they apply it to hundreds, thousands, and so on.

I like using hands on manipulatives for money. However, the virtual money allows me to reach more students. I don't have to be concerned about lost materials. Money is a life skill so I feel it should be taught utilizing as many resources as possible.
