If someone is on trial, they cannot be forced to say anything or answer to anything. If they do not wish to say anything they don’t have to. I believe this is important because then if someone is unjustly accused, they could just wait until enough evidence is found to make it so they are proven innocent. They could also just not be proven, if they don’t answer and ‘plead the fifth.’

Thomas Jefferson wrote the Statute for Religious Freedom because he believed that religious freedom was one of the “natural rights of mankind.” Think about a right that YOU believe in and would like to see incorporated into Lawson’s school rules or in Room 22’s Constitution. Write a statute that would make this right a part of our school or classroom. Your statute should:
a. Describe the right clearly.
b. Include the behaviors the right prohibits (forbids) and/or allows.
c. Explain why this right is important.

The right to do work from other classes after finishing our work. We cannot play games or goof around with our friends. We are allowed to do our other homework and finish up anything else that we have to do, as long as it’s academically related. This right is important because then, we have more time at home to have fun and do whatever. We also would then wouldn’t need to do much homework, and the homework that we do have, we can spend more time on and work harder on it.
