Analysis of Data and Graphs

The first thing I looked at was the range of salaries among the athletes. The highest paid athlete was Floyd Mayweather at $285 Million and the lowest (on the top 50 list) was Mike Conley at $30 Million. The rest of the athletes were between these two amounts, with a majority earning between $30-40 Million. I also thought it was interesting that Floyd Mayweather makes more than twice the amount of the second highest paid athlete, Lionel Messi, at $111 Million.

I was interested to see that the mean was $51.1 Million and the median was $38. 3 Million. With Floyd Mayweather's salary being so much more than the rest, we saw him as an outlier and I think this is what caused the mean to be slightly higher.

I chose to separate the data into groups where each is a span of $5 Million. I did this because I thought it would better show the differences in salaries among the athletes.

All 3 graphs indicate that the salary of $30-34.99 Million is our largest category. They show where the most athletes made which salary. I also looked up which sport each of these individuals played and found that certain sports didn't pay more money as well as the age of the athletes having no effect on their salary. If I had to chose only one graph to display the data, I would select the histogram because I think it is the easiest to read and understand the data we're looking at.
