Axum (also spelled as Aksum) is a small territory located along the Red Sea. Axum id located in the northeast region of the contemporary Iron Age Ethiopia. It's 7200 feet above the sea level. Since it's religion required both sides of the Red Sea, early texts showed that trading started early as the first century B.C. Axum rose up to a high point because of it's trading business. The people of Axum did their trading business with the Roman Empire, and sometimes eastern to India. Some of the things they traded was their agricultural resources, their gold, and their ivory.
